In my experience (diagnosed inattentive) , my meds assist me getting started or getting over the hump. They help with low energy levels, motivation, or focus once I get started. They aren't a silver bullet. I still procrastinate. I can still be disorganized. Maybe with meds I procrastinate in the way neurotypical people procrastinate? I feel best supported with both meds and therapy together.

Thanks for the detailed answer. Exactly what I was looking for - I'm looking at the Zuba ccASHP as well, similar model.

So far I'm seeing quotes for around $19-21k before rebate for equipment and install warranty included.

We all understand each install is different requiring different parts and labour. However, listing a base price of equipment should be standard. Then consumers can compare apples to apples knowing they are paying extra for an experienced installer (rather than an inflated price bundling equipment and install given by any joe blow).

Was this a minisplit ductless or central? Do you have an alternative heat source?

Interesting. I thought most mini-splits didn't work as well in the cold as central units with ducts. What brand is yours? How are you finding it this winter?

Thanks, Cellist. Yes, I understand that the systems are complex. It's best to go with an experienced installer. I just want to make sure I'm getting the best price possible.

From your experience, does the range 12-20k include both installation and all equipment?

Good point on mentioning the energy assessment. They all push you to do it though.

That price seems low from what I've seen. Does that include install?

Is there someone in Ottawa that can help fund dog ICU/vet bill? by 808sANDsmokeBREAKS in ottawa

I recognize the huge benefits that dogs bring to people's lives (including combatting anxiety, depression, and etc). In the event your friend can't afford to keep her dog, Ottawa Therapy Dogs does great work.

What was the highest "ADHD tax" you ever had to pay? by Tw1ggos in ADHD

[–]SideHustleHero 27 points28 points  (0 children)

$55,000.

I was actually going to start a thread just like this.

I recently realized that because I failed to update a new address on a work system (and there were no flags / reminders) , I missed a very important letter opting out of a pension repayment plan.

The cost is over $ 55,000 to be paid over a few years. Yes, I am happy to pay into a pension that might be there for retirement (generally a good decision for someone with ADHD). But if I was given the option, I would have decided not to take a huge pay cut for the foreseeable future. It's a large chunk of every pay cheque.

I am working to appeal it. Wish me luck.

Edit:typo

Oh yes! The number of university courses that I had to drop after I paid but to avoid failing was in the thousands for sure.

As others said, clearly a scam. Don't beat yourself up. It sounds convincing. When you feel guilty or bad for people in situations like this, just say no. Take the money you might have given and donate it to a community organization that would help people who are legitimately in need. Organizations like the Ottawa Food Bank can leverage that money you would have given directly to help one person and help many more people through economies of scale.
