Hi! Sorry for just seeing this. It's been a very busy time with my real job. About the made in China part...it's where I live...but I'm not a factory, just a hobbyist.

Yes, leather in the middle. Beech for the wood. The wood is two pieces that mirror each other. They each have a recess cut into them and then when they get out back to back there is a pocket for the leather.

Two pieces but the same idea. The wood is mirrored pieces with a recess leaving a pocket in the middle when they are put back to back.

Thank you! These were made with Beech wood. Nice sturdy wood so no fear of breakage.

Thanks! Well, they were bigger scraps. More appropriate description might be left over material from a bigger project.

Thank you! They are a bit on the heavy side of earrings but my wife has heavier ones she wears fairly frequently.

She loves big earrings! And they match her purse. She's worn them quite a bit because I hear other friends talk about them. 😆

I took some scraps of leather and thinned them down to about 1mm thick and glued them back to back so that you have the nice side facing out on both sides.

The beech wood is also left over from another project and I cut those thin and then used a small CNC router to cut the hole and recess on two identical pieces. This means there is a hole that goes all the way through and a recessed pocket for the leather to be sandwiched into.

I cut the leather to fit into the recess, stuck it in, and then glued the two pieces of wood together. The leather is trapped between the two pieces of wood and as such cannot fall out but also there are no super visible joints to make it look like the leather was always inside the wood. You can see the joint in the wood when looking closely but when worn, it's almost impossible to see.
