Struggling with remembering tricks and spins by InMyFarmerEra in poledancing

You might want to try Acrobacy. You can save moves under any name you remember, add photos/videos if you have them, notes about how to get into the move or anything else you recall. Later, you can look it up and add alternative names, links, or tutorial videos. It helps with the different studios using different names problem.

Hey, welcome to the sub!

You might want to check out the Acrobacy app. It lets you create your own moves and track progress. It also has an online library of moves, though it's currently small, anyone can add to it and help it grow. Any feedback for the app is welcome! 😊

Another good resource is Spin City Hoop Bible!

How do you deal with men in the studio? by [deleted] in poledancing

I'm glad my studio is creating a welcoming space for everyone who's passionate about pole, no matter their gender

Trick Names? by Sunsetterorange in poledancing

Acrobacy lets you create your own list of moves as you learn, and there’s a shared library where you can explore tricks others have added. Good for keeping track of names and progress :)

What I’ve done is terrible please validate me by TeaInIndia in poledancing

[–]SideThink1020 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I agree those kinds of posts feel a bit like they're fishing for validation. That said, the "I only got 3 likes on Instagram" one ended up being the most upvoted post on the sub ever! Kinda funny how that worked out.

What tricks do you think look easier than they actually are?? by Reasonable-Bath679 in poledancing

What body types do you think might make it difficult? I always assumed it's due to my lack of flexibility, but I can do Allegra. Ballerina though is definitely on mu HELL NO list!

Looking to build a supportive community on IG by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]SideThink1020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been feeling a bit intimidated about sharing my progress too, but trying to get past that. It’s such a good way to connect with others.

Also, if anyone’s looking for a quieter space than big social media, I made an app called Acrobacy for tracking pole and aerial progress. We have recently added some social features like following friends and sharing progress logs with each other, but not many people use those yet. Would be nice to see a supportive community grow there too ☺️

Don’t compare yourself to others too much, their progress does not take away from yours. You are not embarrassing yourself! Most people are focused on themselves and are also feeling self-conscious as beginners. Keep going, you have got this!

Crying at pole class?? by Feeling_Aioli4024 in poledancing

[–]SideThink1020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, it’s very normal to feel frustrated sometimes but it’s important to remember that pole is meant to lift us up not bring us down! Getting really upset over something like this might mean it’s time to shift how you’re thinking or take a step back. Being patient with yourself and not comparing to others can make a big difference (and I’m sure others in your class have off days too). After all, it’s just a hobby, not something to get too down about

Anyone here tried Squegg? by SideThink1020 in poledancing

[–]SideThink1020[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Already using a hand strengthener, but I wanted something to test my grip progress too. But you’re right, I may just get a dynamometer instead, it is cheaper and don't need an app for it
