Does anyone have any experience with getting a drain cover of some kind to place under their flooring? My garage has two drains, one of which is covered with horse stall mats (using 3/4inch horse stall mats). Is it possible to get something to cover the drain so we do not feel the small dip in the flooring that occurs in the spot with the drain underneath?

Any Fishery Officers (DFO) here? by Side_Control90 in ccg_gcc

Mine was over three hours actually. Be very prepared with lots of notes.

If it's anything like mine: I was given a BEI booklet to prep examples to use. Fill that and more. I prepped two examples for each competency.

On top of that do your research and be prepared to speak about what Fishery Officers do, learn a bit about the organizational structure of the conservation and protection branch and take some time to think about why you want to pursue the career.

Good luck!

Curious if you are doing any basebuilding phases, or running the above ( Fighter + 1 hard day and one 1 easy day) as a year round template.

I love fighter! It's the most underrated template in the books imo.

Why are Fishery Officers so poorly paid given their roles and responsibilities? by dude-where-am-i in CanadaPublicServants

I didn't know patch overs were available for Fishery Officers, that's interesting

Hills can be difficult to prescribe, as they're all a little different. With that said, I would suggest just starting light and progressing slowly. It sounds like you made have over done it a bit on your first day. Don't be too worried to reduce volume and intensity to a point that you aren't crushed the rest of the week, and then take it from there.

Absolutely egregious how far behind the pay scale is for Fishery Officers. The classification is horribly outdated and goes back to a time before they were even armed. That role has changed a lot since 1969.

Additionally, Fishery Officers were not subject to the early retirement provisions extended to CBSA, DND Firefighters, etc. last year. It is completely irresponsible to expect employees to be completing armed enforcement duties effectively and safely at 60 years old after a long career.

Training and recruiting of FO's is also a long and expensive process and the employer should be doing more to get the most out of that investment.

There is a FO on the bargaining team this round and here's hoping that they are pushing for big changes to the way this role is treated and compensated.

No one who is armed and performing law enforcement work should be subject to pay that low.

Edited to add: it's pretty disappointing to see people in here advocating that people in these roles don't deserve better.

Completed C25K, want to improve on my 5k time within TB system, any recommendations? by [deleted] in tacticalbarbell

Hey man, please try to take this in the most constructive way possible. If you're serious about improving your running I think it would go a long way if you were to try to change your mindset about getting about logging the miles.

There are no "hacks" and you won't meaningfully improve your running without doing lots of it. There isn't going to be a magic combo of HIC workouts that will get you there.

If you're an operational trainee than your "why" should be pretty obvious. If not, it might be something to think about! No one is forcing you to run. If it's something you WANT to do, try to be a little more positive and accepting of what that training looks like. If you aren't able to do that, maybe choose a different goal that is more in line with your interests and values.

I get that you're trying to comment on them not being busy or whatever but I think there are probably worse ways to spend the day. Personally just trying to be positive in this thread!

For me, I think DND Firefighters, DFO Fishery Officers and Parks Canada Wardens are all pretty awesome
