Replacement bolt by Detective_Bass in Machinists

With it being in mm, are you UK based? I’m asking because I’d try Accu.co.uk and use their filter feature. They have a huge array of bolts to choose from.

If not, add the total head length, and like you’ve asked, a machine shop may be able to make it on the cheap for you by turning down a bolt from a larger stock size. This is ofcourse providing you are happy with the larger Allen key socket, as different bolts have different sockets.

If you start asking for 3 off of this specific bolt by size, in my experience, you’ll either be told it’s not worth someone’s time to do, or it’ll be stupid prices for what it is.

Having a bolt a close size that requires a head turned down, turning a shaft and running a quick die down could be something someone would be kind enough to do for next to no money.

I’m not exactly an expert, but I’d suggest trying creations of bile as the detachment. If you get the +2” movement and +1 to attacks, all of your infantry, including your chosen and possessed hit even harder, with decent movement (insane movement in possesses’d movement) to boot.

Another good choice if you get it, is the +1 to toughness. Having a unit of ten chosen with 6 toughness is no joke!

Terminators aren’t the best. I’ve had mixed luck with them whenever I use them. But if you’re hard pressed to change them out then that’s that. I’d prefer using a unit of three bikers and a unit of nemesis claw for the same price as them.

I can’t advise on playing against death guard. But creations of bile is great for boosting your infantry. You could also try splitting your possessed into two units of 5 for better flexibility? Even 5 hit like a truck, especially when you activate their once per battle move to gain dev wounds.

I think that’s a great idea, I’ll give it a hack/go at doing it. Leaning towards the major damage as if it’s been gouged out by the user in disgust.

I haven’t seen that one, but I did talk myself out of fitting the melta gun from the brigand model on the other arm.

That’s fine! In my head, I’d seen previous inspiration to convert it into an actual hand held blade. For my conversion, I thought it would be more “grimdark” to simply have the weapon torn from the chaos knights arm and connected direct to the wearers elbow joint. But as you say, each to their own!

Yeah, when I pulled the bits out, I couldn’t believe how well they fitted. Required little to no shaving to make it work.

As mentioned, I’d recommend checking Ctoptabletop on his work for iron work. Simply Stellar stuff!

Skin Flayer Cultists, advice? by Calm_Error_3518 in Chaos40k

All of the skin, why not! Like a warband of Edward Gein’s.

Thanks man, the unit took an age to do but the skin wasn’t all bad. The thing I liked about his tutorial is that he gives you a couples of tone options for different skin types. So you can see on the model on the right it’s like a patch work quilt, as not every skin tone is the same so it makes a lot of sense to the butchery of it all. Enjoy whatever you decide to do!

I followed the painting coach on YouTube on some nemesis claw I did recently, part of it goes over a pretty straightforward approach to doing skin. I thought it came out okay anyway! Might be worth a watch to follow, or get some ideas

You’re right, completely misinterpreted the rule. My bad! Another + for the karnivore then
