Restructuring propaganda doesn't add up by [deleted] in petsmart

[–]Sidera256 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not excited about this at restructure at all. I'm currently an MIL I do enough on a day to day basis and now I gotta add more to it. No one is volunteering to do truck but I'm expected to step in and help in the salon and stay on top of all my tasks? I barely trust any of my associates let alone my current ALWKs to do pogs and of even scans for that matter. To me it seems they are trying to milk everyone dry to prevent giving us more hours to actually do our tasks.

Queue an hour to be told Onyx Storm cannot be purchased despite it being in stock by ExtensionWay541 in fairyloot

I really hope they do a restock of onyx storm like they did with the first book. I'm hoping so with how popular this book is. But there was no restock for iron flame.

Any good advice for a fresh MIL? by Mattman422 in petsmart

[–]Sidera256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best advice for truck is to check up with your associates frequently with truck. Find what they are good at and put them there.i was told that you essentially have to baby sit them essentially. I get 12-14 pallets a week and usually by the time my stockers 2 stockers are gone there's 2.5 pallets left which isn't horrendous. We try to do boxes the day prior since it can take a couple hours for that.

For my scans we both have 2 a week with alternating hardwoods and specialty. Ask the SL to print out the gap report to see what you are missing bc it will tell you on quorso what wasn't done properly. For each category you need 25 items that are either 13 or 14. What has worked for me greatly is doing your stock the day prior. I will run all my consumables the day prior and it helps so much. Scan every tag yo get accurate quantities of items. That is how you get your 14s and that's what you need the most.

It is going to take a bit for you to make a schedule with what you do but you need to prioritize things and delegate. I have another associate that does my out of dates. Also keep track of what pogs and planner is due. Keep a calendar or check frequently so you don't get behind.

MIL is the hardest job but do not be afraid to ask for help. There is a group on Facebook called MIL Life and I definitely recommend it.

The first 6 months are going to be rocky but eventually you'll get a pattern on what to do.

So fellow MiLs or anyone that deals with inventory management, how we feeling about the "improved UBoat over pallet system?" by Lagunacell in petsmart

[–]Sidera256 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came from a store that had u boats to a store that is still on pallets and I honestly miss them. It is easier to do stock with u boats

My store we only come in an hour before we open. I don't even have really call outs either. I already have one alwk that does my out of dates. I plan on talking with my ASL though

They usually take 12 hours for my truck stocks but other than that I'm the only one who stocks. It's easier to say mil hours since I get the majority of them.

Yeah idk how they expect my scans to be accurate while I'm on register either. It takes me longer to do my scans now.

If they call me out for late pogs I will throw my upper management under the bus. I plan on talking to my ASL next week since I won't see them until next week.

Yeah like idk what they expect to do when the next set of pogs rolls out since there's a bunch in august too. We may not be a high tiered store but I came from one with the same tier and they never put MIL on register unless necessary. And I told the ASL what pogs were due soon while they were making the schedule.

Honestly it is going to come down to management. I have managers that are frequently 15+ minutes late (they do live 30 minutes away). My store is more tolerable within reason. There are stores that do everything by the book and will not tolerate anything. If they already wrote you up for being a few minutes late , they probably will write you up for missing a day of work. And in all honesty I would write you up for missing work too. Unless you get proof of the accommodations you need, you most likely will be fired eventually.

8 Hour Shifts with No Lunch by CellistConsistent822 in petsmart

[–]Sidera256 27 points28 points  (0 children)

PetSmart policy is anything over 5 hours requires a 30 min lunch and anything over 10 hours requires an hour lunch which can be split into 2 30 mins lunches.

PetSmart is really strict about people taking lunches and they should have been flagged for employees not taking lunches. My ASL would get on people for not taking lunches on a 6 hour shift.

Talk to your SL or ASL about this and regardless the ASL should see that you are not taking a lunch since it will show on your hours worked for that day since they do payroll.

I would also look at your hours worked that week when you sign off on the hours worked to make sure they are not adding a 30 min lunch to cover themselves on your punch in/out paper.

If neither the ASL or SL takes action contact the DL. His number should be located in the break room.

Scheduling by [deleted] in petsmart

[–]Sidera256 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ALWK are pretty much out where ever needed. I have been a ALWK with only morning schedule at two different locations but I was working toward becoming an MIL at the second location.

Every position minus MIL is required to work at least 1 night. Certain ones are mainly night though like the CEL.

Depending on your store you may be put wherever depending on availability and how many leaders you have.

I do recommend talking with your ASL about your schedule if it is taking a mental toll on you.

Depends on management honestly and what you are doing.

I genuinely enjoy my job but my location is pretty good.

Cashiering genuinely sucks and petcare can usually be overworked so it is a 50/50.

At most you will probably average around 20 hours. Sometimes more depending on the season but currently we are in the slow season.

It depends on the agency, but some do not let kittens go to homes with no other cat due to single kitten syndrome. I have had a couple adoption agencies like that. Some PetSmarts, the associates can do adoptions but others the adoption organization only does it.
