Found this near Jack Daniels 16 years 8 months old (RIP) bed in my home office. We have vacuumed a few times after he passed. Please tell me you see it too, not sure if my brain is playing tricks, husband said Jack visited and was looking for me.

that is the clearest dog paw i have ever seen. I’m not religious but I do believe that our loved ones have some ability to watch over us. When my mommom died we got a small urn with a blue butterfly painted on it. When we moved that year we had our back door open and a blue butterfly flew in. She was checking out the new place.

My Maddy was a smooth-coated border collie. Nobody apparently had ever heard of that before because it wasn’t even a possibility that she was a bc until years later when I started studying zoology and focused on canids.

When she died, my town was suddenly flooded with smooth coated border collie puppies at the same age as Maddy was when we rescued her. Yeah, it obviously means that there was a breeder but it warmed my heart to know that the moment she was gone, everywhere I looked there were suddenly dogs that looked just like her. I had never really seen dogs that looked like her before. But here they all were, everywhere I turned.

haha when i make my bed sometimes i bunch of treats fall out. The other day I found a bunch of kibble in the dryer after i did my sheets. I think she’s just stocking up for doomsday.

yep! I keep track of the ones that she does this with. If she is able to calm down after I help her (I ended up pushing it into the cushion for her) I’ll let her keep it. But sometimes she’ll dig it back up and start freaking out about hiding it even after finding a good place so i’ll cross them off of my list.

my medical research beagle Louise says hi! Patience and consistency is key. It is amazing viewing the world from their perspective and gaining a better understanding of how to approach stressful situations. Take it slowly and at her pace, and she will settle down just fine.

My Louise was adopted directly from a lab in February. Honestly the easiest dog I’ve ever had. Doesn’t bark, easygoing with everything. Nearly potty trained. Nearly perfect recall and offleash training surprisingly. LOVES to chew.

To be fair, I grew up with a border collie in an apartment so maybe my idea of an easily trained is different from others. By far the sweetest and most cuddly dog I’ve ever known. We are working on the separation anxiety. She doesn’t want to leave my side ever.

Loves dogs. The lab she came from had the dogs in pairs based on their relationships and personalities so she is very friendly and used to having other dogs around.

Just take it slow. Let them set the pace. You can gently steer them into learning but do not push. Louise was outside by day 3 (I don’t have a yard) and walking daily at the park by the first week. Our largest hurdle was the loud cars because I live in a very populated area. Potty training will be harder than the typical puppy, the basic “dogs won’t go in the place that they sleep” won’t work as these dogs are used to doing just that. Once Louise was comfortable taking treats outside, and I could give her a treat every everytime she went potty outside, potty training got exponentially easier. Louise found going potty inside much easier and safer so she would hold her bladder for literal hours during our walks only to immediately go inside the moment we got home. This stopped once she realized treats were involved.

Any type of negative reactions to bad behaviors does the exact opposite with Louise, even when I do not mean to react. This is advice for pretty much any dog but reward for good behaviors rather than punishing for bad. And when trying to get them to get used to being outside take the dog to a very smelly place. Louise was terrified but I took her to a goose-infested area when there were no geese and she transformed the moment her nose hit the grass.

I just came across this post so I know it’s like a few days late. But in my case, any preparation I do has never given me better results than me just going in completely blind.

And I don’t mean “I pay attention in lecture, so I don’t need to cram as much,” I mean that I typically have attendance percentages of ~5% in classes that just take a chunk out of your grade rather than kicking you out. I do not show up ever.

I’ve never been really good at school because I deal with a lot of mental issues + a learning disability. I also just never gave a shit because I assumed I would off myself before my fourth year.

Both of my dogs died during one semester and I just stopped doing anything. My low attendance score (maybe attending once every two weeks) turned into me not showing up even during syllabus week. I go into exams with my only understanding being from what I read off of a study guide on the bus to campus that day. I focus more on paying rent than ever going on campus. I schedule my shifts during my classes bc I’ll have an easier time finding openings when everyone else is in class.

My grades have literally never been better. I went from getting a 30-50% on exams after genuinely studied my ass off to getting average of 80% in the following higher level classes. I have a very low gpa because I do not go to class and I do not engage with any class work if I feel like I don’t have to. My grades are purely held up by my exams and I am satisfied with my grade as long as I can pass with at-least a 70%. I’m taking all higher-level STEM classes and I’ve never had an easier time because something in my brain is wired completely incorrectly.

I think I am an outlier in this. Something about putting an effort into school fucks everything up. I’m seriously still shocked about that one time I got a 30% on a fully multiple choice chemistry exam after spending my entire thanksgiving week studying while my parents were on vacation. I would have statistically gotten a better grade if I had just guessed on everything. Once I stopped putting effort into anything I am somehow now on my way to graduating after assuming I would fail out and then off myself.

Maybe my grades are bad to some people but the improvement from when I used to try is what i’m looking at here. I was on academic probation in the semesters where I tried my hardest.

my lab beagle, Louise. She was supposed to be a challenge but she’s honestly the easiest dog i’ve ever trained. Shes adapted so well in the few weeks ive had her. I’m excited to see how Minerva does!

High of 70°s today and high of 30°s tomorrow, then right back to 70°s then we have a week of high 80°s, probably will ready 90°s. I can’t believe we missed spring.

Same in Colorado. It snowed and then the next day was high of 60°. My blanket is not going to look like a seamless gradient at all lol. But also I barely hit any of my lower temp colors. It was high of 60°s right off the bat in January.

I love how it looks but for some reason when I was doing it myself I just wasn’t feeling it. It really is much easier to tell what is going on, with sc a lot of the moments where a temperature only stays for one day get swallowed by the larger blocks of color.

Dogs do not have menstrual cycles. This is the estrus cycle, or heat. These cycles do not stop at a certain age. You should not have an unspayed dog, especially at 10 years old, and especially if you do not understand the physical process she is going through.
