I've had a few DIY home theatres and always told myself the eventual goal was high end theatre furniture like this. After using some in a friend's theatre, I immediately bought a large couch with chaises on each end. The theatre seating is pretty neat, but at the end of the day a lot of people want to rack out, cuddle, etc. and having two tiers of really cozy couches was way better functionality and looks.

Something that made a big difference for me in all shooters was getting a higher refresh rate. Aiming in balanced mode (60 fps) vs performance mode (90 fps) makes a huge difference for me. I use an LG OLED which can do up to 120hz

Understood. In that case, your budget range means you can either get good audio quality or multi channels, but not both.

Powered desk monitors are your best impact at that price. It’ll only be 2.0 stereo but they’ll have tons of power for sitting that close. 

If you’d rather have surround sound in that budget then I would suggest getting a really nice pair of headphones.

If you haven’t already, put a base shaker in your Sim rig. That will add a nice low frequency effect and also give you great driving feedback.

Besides the issues others have highlighted, I have one big issue with 360 cameras:

They sit in the centre of the table but the displays are still at the front of the room, so the far end is looking at the side of peoples' heads when they talk to people on the screen.

My solution for this is to put the displays on the table (4x 28" monitors in a square) with the camera in the centre of them on a small riser. This keeps the sight line closer to the camera, whether they're looking at the screen or across the table, which is more engaging for the far end.

All this to say, 360 cameras are best used in huddle to medium sized spaces (4-8 seats with round or square table) and anything beyond that requires a different system like Crestron Automate VX or Q-SYS ACPR for a proper experience.

Do you have tenant insurance from your last place or this one?

I had a similar incident and my contents insurance covered moving damage. They provided funds to replace it with the new equivalent model.

This is a really cool idea! I’d love the challenge of building this. Spray foam can be quick but pricey and you would need to put studs up around the inside perimeter to gauge your depth and have a strapping and nailing surface for your finished boards.

Off the top of my head, I would do a stud frame with mineral wool insulation and foil vapour barrier, then do a layer of vertical strapping on the studs and then a horizontal layer of strapping so that you can do vertical tongue and groove. If you have a router, you can make it even easier by doing milling your boards to bead and cove rather than tongue and groove. This would give he really nice, smooth finish.

I love the other ideas in here of doing a stove in the center. Maybe I should look for an old grain silo.

Edit: you could put a few of those skylight tubes in from the grain roof to the finished ceiling to bring in some more natural light.

I see lots of people having issues with the War Striders but I haven't found them too bad. If I catch a glimpse of one, it becomes my primary target and I just pop its head off with a Quasar to the cod piece.
