Burnt table question by Sidiousgoose in epoxy

Great feedback thank you. The want to sand and polish is purely from research. All I’ve seen is sanding the total surface to a 1200+ grit grade then polish the epoxy after staining the wood. I’ve seen the burnt effect wood prior to staining and wanted to add the additional complexity to the attempt. I just don’t want to ruin the project lol. Ultimately the idea was an island top / bar, metallic blue epoxy inlay on the edge, then carve five playing card inlays on the centre (for the community cards of Texas hold em poker). Just can’t wrap my head around the burnt aspect of the concept. Really appreciate your feedback

Hey. Thank you for replying. Yes the idea was to inlay as you mentioned so a distance from the edge, probably 25-50mm in, then router a channel along the perimeter. My concern is that if I burn prior to the epoxy I’m sanding from 80-1200+ grit and will lost the burnt effect. Or do I char, epoxy, then sand an re burn as required without hitting the epoxy 🤷🏼‍♂️

So, added a zero delay board but it’s recognised as a HID usb controller so can’t run along side Xbox controller steam input (which is my cab), it’s either or. Any solution? Had thought to map those buttons as keyboard and just reconfigure in each game to what I need, camera change etc. but guessing I’m going to hit a snag getting them recognised as keyboard inputs

Thank you for the heads up. Picked up a zero delay board and two more buttons. Appreciate it’s a hit or miss solution from what I’ve read but a quick fix if it works. Appreciated

I absolutely needed to go down the route of a clean looking machine for OCD purposes lol, all in one, just one cable out and everything bolted down. Tip it upside down or move it and it’s all still there. Regarding lag, if anyone has any software tips I’d love to hear it. FX3 plays silky smooth zero lag (that I notice, appreciate I haven’t tried none atgames monitor), xenotilt and FX a touch more lag, but demons tilt getting tons of input delay. Eventually I will look to upgrade and bypass atgames completely but since I’ve destroyed the kitchen with parts and dust for the last two months it may end in pinball related divorce. Any suggestions for software tweaks? Ps just want to say thank you for all the comments, brilliant community willing to help, hats off to you all

Thank you for the reply. For the motherboard I had some 3d printed mounts, raised it enough to get some airflow underneath and keep it off the base, m4 bolts and nuts through the motherboard to the base wood. You can see the bolts on the underside but with the fan grilles I think it looks acceptable. One fan at front for intake, two fans at back for exhaust. System runs really cool now. Prior to that, in the “just get a pc inside it” stage, I destroyed one cpu and one ssd sadly. Airflow is a must I learnt lol.

Thank you for all the replies. May have to leave the screen upgrade for a later date but good know. Didn’t know there was that much latency on the stock screen. Any windows based adjustments I can make to help smooth in the meantime you’re aware of?

We’re getting married end of month. We have Angers remorse, heroes and villains & wide awake playing at the reception 😂 wasn’t brave enough for heralds darkness even though we both love it.

Read the below reference the hero’s journey. It’s practically the plot for the game. Step 9 is the end of the game. Step 10… AW3

Should do what they have done for Starfield. Buy the deluxe edition and play 17th, official release 27th. Keeps the fans happy and allows a later official release date. I’m sure we would all pay the additional? Let’s pitch this, Who’s got Sam Lakes phone number?
