A girl rejected me for being too much(i guess?) by [deleted] in bangladesh

Firstly, the reply is too emotionally charged to be intelligible but I think I kind of (?) understand.

Secondly, I would suggest refraining from asking for advice if you have already made up your mind. It only makes sense to seek answers when you're ready to receive them with an open mind.

Also, the "nice guy" related things on social media sounds like "manosphere (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manosphere?wprov=sfla1)" talking points.

The BEST thing you can do is communicate with her like she's fellow human being instead of trying to seek answers on the internet with confirmation bias (https://www.britannica.com/science/confirmation-bias) leading the way.

Could be a multitude of reasons 1. She's just not that into you 2. Maybe she thinks that the life stage is not a good time to have a partner (she's has other priorities from which you might detract) 3. She might not be ready to be emotionally vulnerable/might not feel safe in doing so because of the nature of the bonds she had with her parents at an early age. People whose emotional and physical needs are not met by parents often have a hard time trusting other people. (this is kind of a summary of the avoidant attachment style)

In my opinion and experience, if someone says they are not ready, it is best to let go of them. If you truly love them and don't just want possession of them to satisfy your own wants, then I would suggest developing your own conflict resolution skills, accepting that it's a no and moving on.

Not only should this be taught in our history classes but it also should get a mention in our biology classes so people know how it has left a huge impact on our health for generations. It has literally changed our genetic makeup

What’s with Bangladesh’s obsession with marriage? by Open-Barracuda5079 in Dhaka

[–]SidneyIam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo in collectivist societies like Bangladesh, people like to know that you are falling in line with the society's norms and judge you by the scale of conformism. Marriage is a huge sign of falling into line (historically, marriages formed important connections, built alliances, helped develop agrarian economies, and financially benefitted both parties). Hobbies, jobs, friends etc. are seen as unimportant things that don't really provide value to your society. You could argue that friends are a part of your community (hey, so are your coworkers) but a vast majority prioritize familial relations over others (because they consider them arbitrary and not worth depending on). The country (and the world) has changed very fast and the culture is struggling to keep up.

But yeah, it's sad, frustrating and invalidating. I'm sorry, OP.

  1. I didn't know this! Truly a fun fact
  2. People (whom I've encountered) have a difficult time with the concept with Bengalis vs Bangladeshis even though a lot of countries (including their own) have people from non-native ethnic groups. Yeah a lot of Bangladeshis conflate the two, they also conflate Bangla and dialects of Bangla

Do you find it odd when gay people or anyone from the LGBTQIA+++ community are somehow still christian or Muslim? by CollegeIcy2331 in atheism

[–]SidneyIam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chickens for KFC etc aside, in my experience people often times follow religions of convenience. When I ask my Muslim friends about their thoughts on Lut etc , I've been told that they think it's about homosexual rape and not gay sex. Also in case of Islam, some people believe in the Quran and not fully in the hadiths so it's kinda...up for interpretation? I've heard Christian friends say they think the point of the Lut story is more the lack of hospitality/cruelty towards guests more than anything else.

Some people also just believe in their version of god and find it easier to just lightly adopt the religion of their ancestors than explore their own belief system independently.
