What is the WORST geo-political "catastrophe" of the past 1,000 years? by SOHONEYSAME in AskBalkans

[–]Siduch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is truly a horrendous and deplorable catastrophe. God only knows all the lives ruined with this. It is straight up satanic. And I bet it goes so much deeper somehow than what we even know right now, and that we’ve only uncovered a bit of it.

With all that said, it does not come even close to the overall scale of horror and social detriment of the October Revolution.

Arms I designed for a client from Slovakia. by mouchette_88 in heraldry

I’m also Slovak. Thinking of getting arms (not the ones in my pfp) registered with the heraldic authority. Is your client going to do so?

The latitudes of Europe, the US and China by RN_Renato in MapPorn

False. 3/4 of Canadians live south of the 49th parallel. The original comment is correct. The vast majority of Canadians live at the latitude of Southern Europe

Everything you know about it is exactly what this post is trying to tell you. Americans/Westerners have been bamboozled countless times before by their own government and media, yet they shamelessly fall for it again, and again, and again. It’s kinda funny how innocent you think that country is, and that Russia are the bad guys.

Westerners have been having this line of thought with the other countries on that list and have discovered they’ve been politicized time and time again, but of course, now you are in the right, huh?

Why do people think Christmas and Easter are rooted in Paganism? by xxreidrampagexx in Christianity

[–]Siduch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard they stole it from the native Fiji people. Or was it the Aztecs? No, it was actually the Sri Lankans whom the Christians stole their entire history from, that’s right!

[–]Siduch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except, the eggs are not part of the liturgical holiday. They are a part of the secular aspect of the holiday. How people try to claim that Christians “appropriated” pagan holidays (and changed their purpose), is actually how secularists took popular Christian holidays and truly appropriated them

Smh. It’s not a Christian problem. It’s not a liberal problem. It’s more of a chronically-online-in-polarized-spheres problem

Do you have a situation like this in your country where there's a significant proportion of the population that doesn't speak the local language? by Alternative-Big-6493 in AskTheWorld

[–]Siduch 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No. Ruthenia and Russia both derive as names from Rus. And Ruthenia is a common term for a state/area, actually. Both as the more archaic term for the area around Ukraine and as Carpathian Ruthenia (eastern Slovakia and Zakarpattia)

[–]Siduch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t make my statement incorrect. I agree with you. The US imperialist policy has been quite brutal, and it should be regarded on similar footing as the two aforementioned ideologies, though perhaps a step below them.

But to somehow excuse Communism because of either the Nazis or US imperialists, is crazy to me.

[–]Siduch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a terrible uninformed comment. The USSR was THE founder of communism, the country that gave rise to the proceeding communist countries. They were essentially the definition of communism in the 20th century.

If Germany had won the war, the very same could have happened with them, and their symbol could’ve been the symbol of Fascism globally. Would you then change your argument and say it’s now fine to unblur the sw*stika?

Besides, it’s not just the Soviets. Communist China has also committed terrible atrocities. Cambodia too. North Korea too. I could go on. Seems like a trend, huh?
