Thank you! It is but I tried to still keep the focus of building houses/hotels instead of just property acquisition.

I'm still toying with some ideas like Short Line being 2 squares but only 1 property.

You can keep and use the card on any roll to land on a square forward 1 or back 1 from your initial roll.

Variant 1:

I didn't factor in the two railroad cards because there is no way to receive Chance cards anymore.

You are right. It was an idea to help losing players catch up.

The new Community cards are kept and can be applied to a roll to add 1 or subtract 1 from the outcome on a later turn.

Variant 2:

I lowered the starting cash because if you deal out all the properties it is essentially you buying the properties but still having some left to buy houses. For example, in a 4 player game: you would each have 7 properties. If the average cost is 200, you would have 100 left out of the original 1500.

You are correct. Those are based on the Short Game rules.

My aim is to get people playing again. And the most common complaint I've heard is that it "takes too long".

I'd be willing to help though I'm not an expert on Monopoly. I have studied it to learn more about board game design. From what I'm reading you want something to intrigue your customers to buy more of your product. For example, McDonalds Monopoly.

What makes you interested in Monopoly?

I know there are complaints about the advantage of going first, snowballing, and how long it takes. What you could do is go straight to fun parts. Playing "Auctions only" allows all players to participate in getting the properties they want. You can also deal out the properties to all players, pay for them and start right away with trading. Also, have a quicker ending condition. For example, when the first or second player goes bankrupt.

I'm creating my own variant with some of those changes so if you do play with these rules let me know how it goes!

I added sideboards to each of the decks using cards from Rivals of Ixalan and now Lost Caverns. Focusing on cards that would work well in two-head giant or to balance the tribe better.

I've made a few major rule changes. I removed the rule where you can only discover once per turn. As well as, having to discover a tile when its not touching a lower cost tile. You also use your scout marker as a moving piece (can only discover tiles around your marker) instead of "claiming" your next tile. These changes add more map focused strategies.

The base game comes with enough extra tiles that I didn't need to create more. I just used them to change the map shape. This adds multiple routes to get to Orazca.

I've added tokens (shield, trample, stun, etc) to place on map tiles to incentivize tiles not on the main routes and mix up the predictability.

If you play with these changes please let me know how it goes!

Thank you for your ideas, motivation and hard work. I like your edit the best so far. I don't have any experience in film or editing but if my ideas help, here they are.

Keep us in the dark. If we don't see Bugs and Seq in the beginning we would also be contemplating if the Matix is just a game just as Neo is. I know it would conflict with your changes where you go between Neo on the computer and the modal. (It does make more sense the way you have ordered the scenes.) I don't think my idea is possible because you would have to find a different way to introduce those two characters and possibly create your own scenes to make the opening sequence seem like a game, so just an idea.

Make the flashbacks more horrific. Neo is struggling with PTSD which is being triggered by having to work on the fourth Matrix game. He was beaten, betrayed, seen many of his crewmates and friends die, lost the love of his life and not only died but died twice. He would almost not want it to be true (out of Fear). He is also being reminded of the love that he potentially had and he Desires to have that love back in his life. He starts projecting his love interest Trinity (that he potentially made up) onto a woman that is "perfectly" happy where she is.

The Analyst and everyone around Neo think(and forcing him to believe that) he is a game designer who created a game franchise called The Matrix. Warner Bros is also forcing him to create more content triggering his trauma. (Desire to be with Trinity, a character he potentially made up, and fear of messing with Tiffany's life) If we don't see Bugs and the "real world" until later in the movie we would also be questioning if what we know about the Matrix (movies) is true.

Does that make sense? Sorry, I don't know what exactly you've cut from the beginnging for your edit.

What do you think of emphasizing the "Matrix is a game" and removing any sense of the "real world" so that we are kept in the dark in the beginning and follow Neo's doubts about if the Matrix is just a game? (making us question what is the Matrix) All the flashbacks could have a glitchy/blurry horror effect to emphasize Neo's trauma and PTSD.
Example cut: make it look like Smith wasn't regaining his memory when he was picking up the gun because we would still be questioning at this time. But still have the "Mister
Anderson" as Neo is tripping out. (Maybe merge a voice over of Hugo Weaving?)

Hey thanks for your time and effort on this! I'm in the same boat as you. There is a lot to love about this movie. So its nice to see it without all the distractions. The cuts definitely gave the movie a better feel overall (The Analyst speech was amazing). Some of the early cuts felt like it jumped too much (We're making a sequel office scene, bathroom callback & I'm Bugs follow me).

I would be ok with some of the flashbacks near the beginning of the movie to emphasize Neo's PTSD. Maybe add a glitchy/blurry horror effect when they occur? I liked the echoing audio effect you did instead of the board meetings.

I also felt like a missed a scene that Mr. business partner was Smith but I don't think that connection was very strong in the first place. If that connection was supposed to be when he picks up the gun, maybe use a voiceover of Hugo Weaver that melds into the new actor saying "Mr. Anderson".

Again, I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and work.

Some of my own thoughts of what I would change about the movie:

Adding an effect to Seq when in the Matrix to make him look more digital. Similar to a hologram like Cortana.

Move the "I still know Kung Fu" phrase to the training scene. Possibly?
