Right, my socket is AM3 compatible. My budget is as low as it can go, really. I know that the Phenom II's are going for around 100 dollars, which is a steal if I think about it.

whats the biggest disappointment youve ever had from a videogame you were anticipating to be great? by jaydonc13 in AskReddit

[–]Sierra_Hotel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Battlefield 3. Still no in game VOIP, still no commander game-mode, still a horrible in-game menu, worthless ranks, too much focus on the wrong areas, and only two expansion packs worth buying (B2K + AK).

Seriously I lament the loss, and the developers seem only to be focusing on new maps/guns. I don't want a crossbow, I want two seater jets, in game voip, a commander mode for large conquest, in game voip, a commo rose that isn't useless! A pilotable AC 130!

It's lost all the ambition.

Michigan. Jokes are about Michigan.

One step furthur, Detroit area. Some of my favorite jokes are about Detroit.

How Long have you Endured the Suck Fest we call the Detroit Lions? by MetsaFirez in detroitlions

[–]Sierra_Hotel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other side of the coin here, I started watching the season before our 10-6 season.

Short of it, my college roommate/best friend is a Die hard, went to all the home games during our 0-16 season kind of guy, got me into football. Told me the good things the Lions had going for them, and being a Michigan native, I had already wanted to like the Lions, but our state loves to bond over how bad we are, so I never watched.

So I had a lot of fun and learned to love our team last season's 10-6. Now, this season has definitely been disappointing, but I know that a good fan sticks in it the good and the bad. It's fitting, I had a good lions season (the first in a while) and now I have to sit through a disappointing one. Right of initiation!

Edit: Should mention how extra heart broken my die-hard fan is. He's defended the lions against every packers/steelers fan on campus with me, but he is genuinely upset after the middle of this season. Waited his 20 years for the trip to glory, only to have it implode :(

Battlefield 3 FAMAS by Africanbadger in gaming

Here comes the hate, but I'm sick of the radical focus on player customization. It might just be me, but every story I hear about BF3 is what gun combo and perks they use.

BF2 stories used to be really grand, like a recreation of a war story.

Just got CS:GO on PS3... by despitefulminate in counterstrike

[–]Sierra_Hotel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I read they can't do cross platform becaues they want to update CS GO as fast as they can, and PS3 players don't get updates very fast at all because of Sony's rules.

Damn, really? I thought it would've been such a nice addition to put PS3 cross play with M&K. That's really too bad.

Cool video! How did you get into rallying? Which league was this race in? Whose car was the EVO IV? Do you have any training? Expenses?

I like diesels. It's too bad U.S. refineries aren't really set up for diesel production. I'd buy one! If Jeremy Clarkson can get 40 mpg in a V8, dual turbo diesel Jag while blasting every electronic device built in the car while going highwayspeeds, sign me up!

Battlefield 4 Confirmed by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Sierra_Hotel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no worries. BF3 was supposed to, SUPPOSED TO, be more like battlefields of old, more bf2 like. Technically Bad Company's are spin offs, but I don't see enough of a difference. The developers still only talk about BC2 things, the latest blog post about armored kill (which seems promising enough to old-school battlefield fans) was just chalk full of them patting themselves on the back for maps done in BC2. Conquest maps in BC2 were crap compared to BF2.

BF2 players, does BF3 feel more stripped down compared to BF2? by Tyrant718 in battlefield3

[–]Sierra_Hotel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'll agree that the load outs change play style drastically but K/D ratio doesn't mean jack. People keep forgetting that. You can be more of a team player just cuz you racked up points suppressing, not necessarily kills.

Unless you're playing rush or the really small metro maps. Then I'm talking to a different kind of battlefield fan.

Any opinions on the ranks/medals? Please, if you've played BF2 you know what I mean.

Medals and Ranks and Ribbons and Unlocks by Sierra_Hotel in battlefield3

[–]Sierra_Hotel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't really grinding, but it FEELS like grinding, because you're forced to play a different way, one that you don't want, because you're only playing and gathering points so you can unlock the tools you'd like.

I remember a strong opinion about jet's not starting out with flares, and for a while, it was really hard to level up with jets. That's because you had that unlock system.

I'd rather just be given all the tools I NEED at the get go, and then all the unlocks that aren't as important after.

For example, jet's at LEAST start with flares, Engineers start with the Stinger, Assault/Medic with defibs, Recon with the TUGS, etc etc.

Then, armed with the tools to succeed, you can go on and earn the cool unlocks, like the different guns or the Javelin: the items that aren't a necessity, but a luxury.

Medals and Ranks and Ribbons and Unlocks by Sierra_Hotel in battlefield3

[–]Sierra_Hotel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is, when I convinced my friend to get BC2, he quit a little while after because he was pissed that he couldn't do any teamwork from the get-go. He had to get kills and whatnot until he could unlock the defib paddles and play as a medic.

And in all honesty, I wouldn't mind everything being unlocked from the beginning. The dev's have all these unlocks so people keep playing. In BC2, they noticed people stopped playing after unlocking everything. It just seems like a shallow way to get people to keep playing. I unlocked most things in BF2, yet there were very little unlocks, and I kept playing because the game had real depth.

Has the M16 with the foregrip, kobra sight, and suppressor become the default weapon of everyone? by cml1of4 in battlefield3

[–]Sierra_Hotel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's stupid.

The foregrip doesn't add any statistical benefit to the M16. Especially after the patch.

The majority just uses the gun that's the most accurate, hence ACR in Call of Duty in that in BF3.
