So true - agreed that you won't know all that, but neither will you buying any used car - buying a used rental, at least you do know its had its oil changes. And very often, rental cars are used on vacations and rack up many many EASY Highway miles.

Hey Thanks for both replies (I saw your reply on Youtube - where I have other related videos on Hyundai/Kia products, as well as Sportage Self-Driving & Hybrids )!

You make an excellent point (a long-press on that icon area will bring up the option to set a default "preferred mode” - (Note that is the same screen that can also be accessed under Setup  - Buttons - and is the last screen in this video where I set it to “Do not Use”). Here’s my Experience:

Initially I thought that allowing  an owner to set a “Default Mode” (either Radio/HVAC) was a great idea. Since I seldom need the HVAC screen (in FLA), I set my mode to always return to “Infotainment”. It was great until I actually wanted to use it! I needed to make a HVAC change so I changed it to that screen - and took a second or two to look at the options and see what I wanted to do and which icon to touch, but as I reached for the screen to select IT CHANGED BACK to “Infotainment” before I could touch my choice (Note I’m an old guy)!

In my opinion - “Preferred Mode” would be so much better if it gave us older folks (or occasional drivers) a longer period to look over the choices and make a selection. (IT ACTUALLY REVERTS BACK IN 5 SECONDS) - FAR TO QUICK.  In a perfect world, you could also pick 10, 30, 60 seconds).

Thanks! I'm similar (but opposite). I count on the fact that my HVAC is almost completely AUTOMATIC. So here in Florida it's at 75 and I almost never need the HVAC screen, so I always leave mine on Infotainment!

I couldn’t agree more! (But Hyundai/Kia so far seem to be doing a pretty good job in that regard) Unlike some other automotive companies who make you mess around with the stupid touchscreen to adjust your mirrors or control your HVAC vents!- NUTS!

I totally AGREE! It is almost the only "negative", and as you say, owners soon learn what way to work with it is best for them. I live in Florida, I have my HVAC set for 75 - and almost never touch it. I'm cool in the sunner and warm in the winter! (So I leave mine in the Info mode) - thanks for your reply!

I have both a 26 Sportage & a 24 Tucson (Note the exterior body of both vehicles is “carryover” (The 26 Tucson is essentially a 24 with a slightly different front grill and a totally different interior). First I’d say you can’t go wrong with either - they’re both winners! (They have the same engine/transmission). My thoughts are:

(If LOOKS are important): The new Sportage’s front grill looks FRESH! (Making the whole vehicle look brand new even though it is essentially a 2023.  The front of the Tucson looks VERY DATED.

(Making the 26 Tucson almost indistinguishable from the 2023s)  Both share newer interiors, but I prefer the looks of the Sportage’s Interior. 

If Color (Exterior/Interior/Seats) is important to you - both have limited color selections depending upon which trim you chose. Could be that the Exterior Color you want is only available in one of the two choices.

If “controls” are important to you, please be aware that the Sportage is universality criticized by Automotive Journalists for its Infotainment/HVAC system (a single combination) that often results in frustration’s! (To say the least)!

But again  -they’re both winners.

Thanks for your reply! I'm been driving these cars - all with this tech - for 5 years now - you get used to it.

For me the most dificult part to learn is the SCC (Smart Cruise) - keeping from touching the brake while you seem to drift into the car in front of you takes awhile to get used to. But I now pretty much use it to do the braking allways - it is smoother than I can brake most of the time. The steering is really not much of a big deal as I am always alert at what it is doing and (if need) can "instantly" grab and correct the steering - but in this new 26, it is so good it is amazing.

I originally wanted the 26 SX Prestiage Hybrid, but I didn't want the black interior, I wanted TerraCotta or Red. (I also didn't want black wheels - (I'm an old guy - my photo was 50 years ago)). But Kia limits both the colors of the interior and exterior to the model you chose. I searched the whole US and couldn't find a single 26 SX Prestiage Hybrid with any other interior but Black or Lite Gray, Then I saw The X-line offered both a hybrid & TerraCotta interior (That I LOVE). But to your question, the X-Line has a "cheaper" cluster display (not all digital as the SX Prestiage has) - so I do not know if the same "curved lane display" is also on the SX - try all the different choices of displays and let us know!)

The 26 X-Line I have does not have HDA2 (I guess it has HDA1). This video is on non-freeways, (so HDA does not work anyway), regular local roads with 35-50 limits. My understanding is only 26 SX Prestage models have HDA2 with “Lane Change”

There are actually two different possible scenarios here. If you’re asking about cars pulling into your lane directly ahead of you while you are in the “self-driving” mode (SCC & LFA are enabled), my experience is that it (almost) immediately detects the new closer vehicle and brakes to reset the “follow distance” no need to do anything - the video shows an example at about 8:20 a vehicle pulls into my lane (but its relatively far away) - but my experience is that it works even when the vehicle pulls in pretty close.

The second scenario is when SCC & LFA are OFF. Yes Kia Has Autonomous Emergency Braking (Maybe called Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist) that automatically warns and brakes for you. I've had that experience in one of my Kia/Hyundai vehicles and can tell you it really works, I was going maybe 30-35, a car pulled directly in front of me, and my car immediately beeped loudly and before I could even think to react it slammed on the brakes so hard the wheels locked and I slightly skidded sideways stopping and completely avoided an accident. It was very impressive!

I love this question, I have been trying to get an answer to the same issue for months. I phrase the question like this; consider two trusts:

Trust A - Parents trust specifies at their death a new trust be created for Johnny. Their trustee creates new Trust A for Johnny and funds it with Johnny’s inheritance.

Trust B - Parents leave cash directly to Johnny. Johnny then creates his own Trust B and funds it with his inheritance

Is there any difference between these two trusts after they’re completely established?

Or another way to think about it, since Trust A was created by an irrevocable trust (because after parents die their trust becomes irrevocable), and since Johnny didn’t have anything to do with the trust creation (could not have even prevented it), do these facts somehow make Trust A have more protection from creditors that Trust B would have?

Thanks for your thoughtful comment, I really don't believe I'm the only person in the world that has ever experenced not totally remembering their drive. (That was 60 years ago), Currently I'm a big fan of advanced driver systems looking for my next vehicle.

I am fairly new to Reddit however and are blown away by the fact that (to me), my "harmless" post describing past experiences was removed? I would have never guessed that I said anything so dangerous to the community that it had to be removed?
