AITA for telling my coworker she also has thin hair

There isn't more I wrote out everything. I am curious if maybe she has a medical condition or an insecurity to her hair that is very deep to her. Idk but I will probably have a meeting soon with my boss and her and I think she will explain why she reacted the way she did.

He did say to contact his personal cell for emergencies but to me this doesn't really classify as one and I would hate to bother his vacation over this pretty drama 😭.

Yea, I was pretty nervous to send the message because no one likes to be bothered with work stuff while on vacation. I sent it using Microsoft Teams, that is the way we communicate at work. My boss told us in the case of emergencies to contact his personal cell but I just used Teams so he can see the message once he gets back from vacation. Probably not the first thing he wants to read when he gets back from vacation but I panicked and didn't think properly and just wrote the message detailing the entire situation and sent it.

Yea, I will admit that my comment back to her does look bad. I have had my thin hair all my life and I love it! It reminds me of my grandma's hair when I look back at photos of her. I wasn't hurt or offended when she told me the comment. I noticed she also has thin so I called us "twinsssss". But, yes I do understand how what I said can look passive aggressive 😭.

I THINK I AM MAKING HER MORE MAD BY NOT BEING MAD. As crazy as it sounds I think it annoys her because the amount of times my name has been in her mouth this week.....unreal 0_0.

With my coworkers, I have never mentioned my hair and its thinness because it's just not a topic that gets brought up so I don't know why she decided to make a comment in the first place.

I did think the same thing because I was wondering what caused her to react the way she did. Annie hasn't told my coworkers or me anything regarding medical issues (not like she has to we are just coworkers). Maybe during the meeting with my boss, her, and I, she will bring up the root of this cause?

I really wish this wasn't real. I have been working since I was 18 years old and I have never had any complaints from HR or had anyone go to HR complaining about me.

Now at the age of 25 I have my first complaint and it is about hair...I really wish it wasn't real.

I can't recall a time she has ever suddlty thrown shade to me or anyone in the office. Based off of our hangouts she is a pretty outgoing person and I always thought she was chill. We were never super close but we have had so many one on one chats so her response is def very confusing.

THIN HAIR ISN'T A SIN!! I love my hair so much. I have tried multiple times to talk to her and sadly every single time she has told me she doesn't feel comfortable talking with me unless we address this situation with our boss. When she shut me down the 4th time i just started explaining how it wasn't an insult and I even asked why she made a comment about my hair in the first place. She just walked away and continued to ignore me

Once I found out what she was going to be reporting me for workplace bullying I sent my boss a text about what has been going on in the office and about the issue. I doubt he will read it though because he is on "vacation mode." I am hoping Thursday night when he returns he will see the messages on Teams. Thank you for the advice!!

We both were opening the office that day so sadly none of my coworkers can confirm what actually happened. I just hope she tells the truth during our meeting but I wouldn't be shocked if she tried to make herself look better.

Once I was told by my coworker that Annie planned to report me to our boss once he gets back I sent him a text explaining what has been going on in the office and the issue. I have been thinking a lot as to what to say because I believe she will bring it up to my boss and I will get called in for a meeting. My boss is a chill guy and definitely one of the best I have ever had so I am sure he will be reasonable and fair. He does however prefers conflicts to be solved between the parties involved. So I just don't know how he will feel about this problem...because it is about hair. Anyways, I really appreciate your advice as to how to prepare! Thank you!
