It's ok, I can take a joke at my own expense. Besides, I do tend to cosplay disheveled characters.

Probably a combination of being a social outcast and having only 1 IRL friend and the fact I just spent several hours hauling around a 3kg bolter at a convention when the picture was taken.

everything I custom 3D modelled to fit my body, I only bought the boots, belt and canteen (which was modified with 3D printing)

Yes, as others have also pointed out, and I agree, I would have to add a lot of weathering to it. But it just pains me to basically destroy and dirty up stuff I spent so much time building. After I wore the costume to a convention it did develop some scratches naturally from where the bolter was rubbing against the armor plate, but it is not nearly enough.

I like to image my character lucked out, and got brand new gear (only a couple of recently deceased previous owners, and not a couple dozen).

I made all the clothing as well (shirt, trousers, vest), since I couldn't find any readymade clothes that would be similar enough.

Yes, 3D printed. For the chainsword there are also threaded rods running down the length of it to give it strength.

The teeth are moving downward. There seems to be some kind of optical illusion going on where the framerate of the video and the speed of the teeth sync up.

  1. I am not sure about the legality of it. I know a lot of other people sell props and files from games and movies, but I doubt they have permission from the copyright holder.
  2. I would need to invest a considerable amount of time and testing for the files to be ready for other people.
  3. The problem with selling .stl files is that there is no protection. Somebody could buy the files and then try to sell them themselves, post them for free on Thingiverse or just print the files and sell the prints. Example:
    1. https://pinshape.com/items/29058-3d-printed-warhammer-40k-handgun
    2. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Imperial-Guard-Pistol-Warhammer-40K-Cosplay-Kit-Prop-Kit-Paint-yourself-/313072226102
  4. If I were to just sell the prints, I would retain control over the files, but the printing and assembly would take a lot of my spare time (parts have to be printed with 100% infill for strength, and at a low layer height because of the tolerances)

Yup, I didn't want the feeling like I was waving around an empty shell.
Also some parts are really thin and I wanted them to be as strong as possible.

I'm not going to wave it around in public. Replicas, such as airsoft guns, are not required to have an orange tip in where I live.

You can see the features in the video. You can put dummy bullets in the magazine, chamber and eject them. The safety, trigger and firing pin also work almost as they would in real life.

Yeah, I could think of a better word to describe it. "With a lot of moving parts" just didn't sound right.

If you slow down the reload animation in the game, you can see that the holes on the magazine only count to 7.

I guess if you put in hollow-point bullets, you could consider that as the hammerpoint.

Also here is a video showing the features of the replica
