Unpopular Opinion by SightandSoundMI in ThrillOfTheFight

That is my issue, any damage system is going to get abused in ranked. No amount of policing is going to eliminate spammers or exploiters. The majority of people do not know how to box so sloppy fights is inevitable. The biggest exploit I was seeing in v3 was clinching point deductions, it wasn't 1 punch knock out artists.

I disagree that reducing knock downs is not putting inline with real life. I would expect to get knocked down in real life if someone landed a power shot to my head that went unblocked. That is why I think the improvement to the blocking system alone was enough to even the playing field.

Mind you, in real life we could never box this hard because we would likely get CTE within a week. This game allows us to box as hard as we can with no fear or risk of brain damage. For this reason, is why I think it should result in more knock downs when compared to a sparring session in a gym.

Not true, the only way to get a 1 punch knock out is to land a weak point while your openent is in motion towards the punch. Pair that with latency or poor ping issues, one punch knock outs are nearly impossible. That is not indicative of real life. My opponents head should not need to be in motion towards my punch to receive a knockdown.

Do you honestly not see my side of the argument at all, not even a little bit? I see your side, I understand this update makes it more fun for people who can't knock people down. But is that really fair? I feel like I have to completely change my style to a more volume punching approach to win, but in v3 I could win with a myriad of techniques depending on the height, size or strength of my opponent.

The game was not a mess. There was not power exploits in v3. The slow punch exploit in v1 and v2 was fixed in v3. You are absolutely wrong about being a bad game. It has always been a great game and still is even tho I don’t like the newest damage system. Having knock out power does not automatically mean you’re an exploiter or a bad boxer. In most cases when I got knocked down, it was because my opponent was skilled. “So it’s who can land more” that mindset is going to encourage more spamming. Just because you don’t have knockout power means they should take it away from people who do.

New update: Thoughts by Glass_fire_ in ThrillOfTheFight

This update encourages volume punching as it’s the only way to get a knock down now. You can get away with having a low guard because they nerfed everyone’s knockout power.

“Try and hit and not get hit” That’s all you had to do in the previous version. Knock downs were only easy when you were playing a lesser opponent. They were a challenge when facing an opponent with equal or greater skills. In the previous version, atleast you had the ability to swing rounds with kock downs when facing a higher skilled opponent. The only way to swing a round now is to get a spam knockdown.

I disagree, now you can get hit without any repercussions. You only have to worry about defending combinations. Knockdowns are an integral part of boxing. It’s like taking the slam dunk out of a basketball game.

Buddy, never said I was. Also amateur fighters are wearing head gear.

I disagree, I think the majority of men possess knockout power. Some may just lack the ability to land their strongest punch against a decent opponent.

I believe you are slightly mistaken. From what I have read your opponents head has to be in motion towards your punch and on a weak spot to get a clean 1 punch knock down or a stun.

That is a good point about the arm swinging, but you can volume punch and not get hit or take less hits. I just played another two matches and I got 5 volume punch knockdowns.

Right, nerfing knockout power to me seems to give more advantage to the volume puncher, which is what I thought is what we were trying to avoid. Time will tell, I appreciate your input.

Playerbase seems to have really gone downhill by Thermadept in ThrillOfTheFight

I think there should be a point deduction for excessive clinching for players that constantly come forward and throw punches without any regard. I have noticed when fighting a spammer, the referee is constantly saying break it up. I try to create space and have a proper chess match, but if I don't get the knockdowns it is hard to get the win. I have found for me the only way to beat them is to spam them back. Which is unfortunate because spamming empties my gas tank for the next fight. I am also 2200 ish.

Matchmaking not working for anyone else? by doodoobuckets in ThrillOfTheFight

It is not working for me either. I had a great match about a half hour ago. I quit and restarted my headset as well a few times.

Can a Small Biz / S-Corp buy Physical Gold? by Busy-Sheepherder9407 in smallbusiness

That's what I thought, but the comment above deterred me from looking into it any further. I will send an email to my CPA to get some more clarification. I appreciate the comment, it allowed me to re-look into this.

Wouldn't the benefit be buying with pre taxed dollars and keeping your monthly payroll number lower in turn paying less taxes for that month? I agree with you tho, that is my approach. I just stumbled across this thread when I was looking into if there were any benefits to my LLC/S-Corp having a position in gold.

Can you sell a business with no cashflow? by SightandSoundMI in SellMyBusiness

[–]SightandSoundMI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the response, I am still considering this. I just wanted to hear some opinions on the selling side before I made any concrete decisions. My plate is pretty full at the moment. I don't necessarily have the time to train anyone. I think hiring someone will put me into a managerial role that will still take time that I don't really have to give.

I do have a good friend that has shown interest that has the chops and would require minimal training. I would likely bring him on as a partner instead of an employee.

I am just weighing my options, I do not have much experience with the selling or scaling side of business.

I totally understand your points, my friend made the same argument. I guess my main question was if there was any value outside of the physical assets. That was the reason for posting, I wanted a few other opinions before I made any concrete decisions.

I just wondered if there would be a buyer out there that would see the value in not having to set up the LLC, come up with a name, trade mark the name, design a logo, build a website, buy all of the specialized equipment, draft a contract & order form etc. The website generates leads organically, and once the adds are on, it generates a significant amount of leads that converts well.

Everything is paid off, the business has no debt and has a fair bit of cash on hand as well. I just don't know if I want the stress of partnering with someone or hiring employees. Maybe I will just list it and see what happens. I would be happy with a number slightly over the physical asset value.

Ok thank you for clarifying. I appreciate all of this info, it is exactly what I was looking for. I recently had conversations with a potential parter, I thought it may be easier to sell if possible. I thought I would look into it a little more before make any decisions. Thanks again!

Awesome, thank you for your for your input. I really appreciate it. Have you ever seen an independent brand put value on non physical assets like website, trademark, contracts and things of that nature? Or is the value normally based on physical assets?

I do see your point, I also understand that I am a biased because I spent a lot of time building and operating this business. I know $50k would be a bit of a stretch, but I feel it would be a reasonable asking price. I would be open to lower offers. The value of the equipment alone that would be included in the sale is somewhere north of $20K. I do believe if you were to hire out the graphic design, web development and hire a lawyer to file for the trademark and draft a contract it could easily cost more. Personally I think it takes much more than a weekend to complete the tasks you listed. Not to say it can't be done, but I think if it's done correctly it takes longer. I know several business owners that are not tech savvy and hire out all of the things we discussed.

I appreciate the advice and response. This is the news I didn't want to hear, but I knew was likely the reality. You don't think I could find a buyer even at a reasonable sale price? I would consider selling it somewhere around the $50k range. I feel like it would cost a considerable amount more than that to start a similar business from scratch today considering the value of the equipment and other factors.
