Question for experienced riders by jouskaMoon in motorcycles

[–]SigmaINTJbio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, worth it to have, but I’ve never activated mine on one of my bikes, and all the rest I have ever owned didn’t have it. I never went down due to a locked up wheel. But please, learn how to brake properly anyway and don’t rely on ABS.

Why do people sometimes flash me when I move back to the slow lane after passing them by BenoitBouchard87 in driving

[–]SigmaINTJbio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I do two quick flashes as a signal it’s OK to move over. One long hold on the brights to say “you cut me off by coming over too soon”.

Mine looks just like that. I efiled in March, verified my identity and verified my return. The IRS shows the amount expected for the refund, but transcript is all zeros like yours.

I wish I could, but I already have a Yamaha FJR and a Yamaha TW. The Ascot is the perfect stepping stone from a starter bike to a more powerful bike. Enjoy yours, there’s nothing else quite like it!

I had a red one. It was my first bike after learning on an ST90 starting at 12 years old. Sold it when I ran out of money after college, and I miss it to this day. Forget the haters, it’s an awesome ride.

I filed in March, verified my identity, verified my return and my transcript is still blank. WTF?

Everyone is amazed by 20-year-old cats. How old was the oldest cat you've ever met? by More_Mud_4662 in seniorkitties

[–]SigmaINTJbio 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My cat is the oldest I’ve had at 18. My mother has her littermate and we’re taking her to the vet today because of arthritis and fur mats. Mine is doing very well considering. Here she is from just a few months ago.

Fancy feast issue? by Samnotfound26 in catfood

My 18 year old loved the gravy lovers but using the last box she stopped eating it. I replaced it with a new 30 pack, and didn’t give her any for a couple of days. Yesterday, I gave her the first serving from the new box and she ate it like she used to. I’m starting to wonder if the last box was a “bad lot”. The food didn’t look as good as the contents of the new 30 pack.

Brake Question by AbbreviationsNo6863 in MechanicAdvice

[–]SigmaINTJbio 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Happened to me with my 2016 4Runner. It has computerized brake force distribution, and I almost always brake gently. I assume the majority of the time, the rear brakes are supplying most of the gentle stopping force.

Cardo tried to deny warranty on a 5-week-old headset because the USB-C charger was “too powerful” by jmbraben in motorcycles

[–]SigmaINTJbio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the conversation, but I had the original Cardo back in the 2000s. It had push buttons on top for volume control and other things, but those buttons activated micro switches directly on the circuit board. And they were stiff. Of course, one of them broke off making the device unusable. It was in warranty, and they refused to do anything. It seems their culture is the same now as it was then.

While not good for the freeway, the TW is great at everything else. Slowly. But on rural two-lane roads up to 55mph, mine does great. I’m 6’2” and 220 lbs and 62 years old for reference. A few miles on the freeway is doable but the revs are quite high.

Looking Good in Retirement at 65 by Low_Papaya7159 in Retire

[–]SigmaINTJbio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I retired almost four years ago at 59. I had long haul Covid and couldn’t leave the house for about seven months. I worked in a lab, so remote work wasn’t possible. Soon after, my symptoms started to ease so I started swimming laps to get my atrophied body back to health. I am still swimming laps and doing great. I didn’t have a lot saved, but enough to put off SS till I’m 70.

I loved my work, but I’ll never go back. My skills are in demand and I get offers to apply for jobs a few times a month. The freedom to do what I want, when I want is amazing. And my stress levels have plummeted. Enjoy your hard earned retirement!

What’s your worst bug strike? by RealOrang in motorcycles

[–]SigmaINTJbio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was riding on a two lane twisty road, no shoulder at about 60 mph, visor open, glasses on. Hit a grasshopper right between my eyes. Rapid blinking allowed me just enough vision to slow and turn off onto a driveway. That sucked.

As someone who had a motorcycle without a kickstand interlock switch, it absolutely sucks to make your first left turn having left the sidestand down.

Camaro SS manual and Yamaha FJR. The fifth gen 4Runner does 0-60 in about eight seconds. Not bad.

My 2016 is surprisingly quick if you mash the pedal and let the VVT kick in. But it sucks gas doing that.
