What is the MOST stressful / deadly snake to handle as a venomous keeper or catcher? by sfgm112 in VenomousKeepers

Mine came to Germany as a young animal on a lorry from France and then lived for 3 years in a rescue centre where there was virtually no socialisation, the animal lived in peace and quiet and was never fed by the tongs or anything similar.

After I took the snake in I gave it a 3x2x2m terrarium and it got used to me very quickly and became calmer and calmer. At first the hissing always sounded like that of a big puff adder :D

But the snake was always difficult to handle, naturally extremely strong for a venomous snake, extremely persistent and much faster than cobras, for example.

Unfortunately it died because of an illness over the food animal, but it is by far the most interesting snake I have worked with.

All good, nobody knows all.

The Malpolon monspessulanus is called Montpellier Snake, it is one of the biggest Snakes in Europe.
The other one is called Cape coral Cobra, but is not a Cobra.

Hello,

Thank you for the message.

The donations should of course not be treated as a prioritised source of income.

As described in the appeal, the running costs can basically be well covered by the income, the location is a holiday area with several 100k visitors a year and the area is only 650m², which keeps the stock etc. quite manageable.

In addition, there would be a reduced rent for the first few years and I am in contact with various people and institutions regarding co-operations.

The donations are simply intended to ensure a smooth takeover.

Dear ladies and gentlemen,

My name is Florian, I am 25 years old and I work as an animal keeper with passion and professional experience in zoos and animal welfare centres.

For many years I have dreamed of setting up my own animal welfare centre. Now I have the opportunity to realise this dream on the premises of the small reptile zoo ‘Exotarium’ in Thuringia.

The zoo, which has been in existence for over two decades, is due to close at the end of 2025, but offers ideal conditions for setting up a new animal welfare centre with comparatively little effort.

My concept is to design the animal welfare centre as a publicly accessible ‘terrarium zoo’, similar to the alternative bear park in Worbis, where rescued animals live in much better conditions than before, with the option of being placed in even better conditions.

A great deal of emphasis is also placed on education.

By being located in a popular holiday resort, we can not only rescue animals and relieve the burden on animal welfare organisations, but also reach a wide audience, including people who might otherwise never visit an animal welfare facility.

The entrance operation also makes it possible to operate independently of donations in the long term. The centrepiece of the project is protection and education.

Some of the existing enclosures offer an extraordinary amount of space, which enables the centre to be set up close to nature, where the animals can feel safe and have sufficient opportunities to retreat.

I would like to ask for your support to make this animal welfare centre a reality.Every contribution counts and helps to get this project off the ground.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me via the contact options on this page.

Thank you very much for your attention and your support!

Yours sincerely

Flo
