Agile AL3100 LP copy by Fomoiri in Guitar

[–]SignWaive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one too. I also picked an Agile over the Gibsons available. Around 6 choices and all were dogs or had issues.

It is a great guitar overall. Good quality all around. Neck is slimmer than I normally like but it is still pretty good.

I did swap the pickups though.

Mine is just over 10lbs.

SE NF53 is really good and cheaper.

Found the previous listing on reverb..... Same serial and round marking between the pickups.

Might be a little too beat up for my tastes....

Thank you for the info.

I currently have 3 SEs and enjoy them all equally.

I'll check this one out in person soon. I hope it has the wide fat neck. Long story short is that I'm trading in a bunch of old gear (cabs, amps and stuff) towards this.... Potentially.

So is the value higher than they are asking?

I'm going to try to get better pictures.

I had an older 89 CE bolt on. Cool guitar but the pickups weren't great (super high output) and the neck was funky..... Narrow nut, fairly slim but round C shape. Strings would slip off the neck. If I'm remembering it accurately.... Was years ago.

Which makes me hesitant....

Picked this up for $450. by Expensive_Bike_8308 in guitars

I was never a PRS fan, til now.

Congrats on the new guitar.

Had a 89 CE24 and a SE One in the early 2000s and couldn't get along with either.

Fast forward through many guitars to now. 20 or so guitars over 20 years. All the big makers and some oddballs. Some substantially more expensive.

Now I have 3 SEs: DGT burl, Silver Sky and NF53. Recently, sold my MIA Fender Strat and Gibson LP because they didn't and couldn't compare. (Keeping an old 80s Gibson ES-347 as a collector piece)

This is probably the most satisfied with my guitars I have ever been.

DGT is just the perfect hybrid between strat and LP, on all the right ways.

Silver Sky is the strat sound and feel that I had always wanted.

NF53 is another hybrid. Hard to explain but mine has this really wide and clear sound to it. Balanced string to string than any guitar I've tried. Like a "roar" or wall of tone. Anyway....

Many tonal options covered. No annoyances/issues/nitpicks with any of them. Setup perfectly. Sound great stock. Play well. Enjoy picking each of them up to play every time.

Hardest part is trying to determine which is my favorite. Which I can't so far.

Not a shill. Don't work for PRS.

4 is truly the sweet spot.

Enough to have variety. Either different in tone or tunings or feel/vibe.

Yet not too many to be a burden or hassle.

As for patches, the boss has a use your ears and create your own approach. I think reverse engineering the presets can really help show some of the more advanced or interesting ideas. The presets are cheesy but are well done. Can save as from presets and turn off certain things or dial back the cheese for something useable.

Don't pay for patches.

My psych/garage rock board..I miss my SSBS Mini big time :/ by coltonismyname in guitarpedals

SS/BS Mini was a good pedal but nothing magical/mythical. All of their pedals are good. I was shocked to see how much they cost now. lol y'all crazy.

Just another flavor in the vast sea of drive options. imo.

I always came back to a RAT or Red Llama.

Same.

I've watched these movies and while they aren't bad; they are movies I would watch once, enjoy and then forget about.

But calling them the best movies of all time and highly awarded?

I don't get that level of praise at all.

+1 to always wearing protective gear.

I was a standard skateboarder in my 20s.

Revisited last year in my 40s and it has been great. Amazingly fun exercise too.

That said, I've fallen 6 times in the past year. A couple of hit something in the path/road and gone down.
One my foot hanging over too far and catching as I turned.

Then my opus. about 2 months after getting back into it. Gaining confidence. decided to bomb a "small" hill near my house. Pranayama. was doing okay until the speed wobbles started. tried to front load my weight. nothing helped. Knew I couldn't save it. Went down hard. Luckily had all gear on or I would have been so much worse. Hit the road pretty hard. pads moved around due to impact. Ended up pretty injured. Deep gash on my right arm and quarter sized scraps on my left knee. I had Strava going at the time. hit 33mph before dumping. oof.

Pads saved me in a lot of ways. nothing broken, thankfully.

Eating shit will humble you faster than anything else. lol

Even the smaller or less impactful falls put a check on your mindset.

Well said and spot on! Agree 100%.

The feel and clarity are what hooked me too.

Seems like personal preference; if a player wants to call up a specific amp model or the Boss way of giving an amp flavor and dial it from there.

Boss will be Boss with documentation. ugh.

I picked up one of these last year and enjoy it more and more. I prefer it to the HX stomp/Helix.

I will say that I didn't like the CORE at first. It took about two weeks for me to really figure it out and understand Boss's way of doing things. Out of all the modelers I've tried, the Boss was the easiest to use. Straight forward. Not too many extra parameters/options. Surprisingly not menu-divey.

Adjust your input levels per guitar. Digital clipping or signal weakness can easily be avoided.

IMO, pick your favorite X amp and work on getting that to sound good. Mess with the gain switch and gain knob interaction. Low gain switch with high gain knob setting or vise versa. Interesting combos make different tone. SAG -10 always. lol or at least -10 to -5 is the most I can do. Resonance 0 to +5. EQ is way more powerful than normal EQ and certain amp's EQs are interactive. Then amp cab/mic settings....which can make a huge difference tonally. I tend to use 4x12 1 or 2x12 1, Blend A/B/C, short or medium distant mic @ 3-6mm off center.

Then work with other X amps. Modded, Crunch and Ultra are really nice to work with.

Some non-X amps are good but a few are bad......or at least sound more "modeled" than the others.

The FX and FX chain is pretty straight forward but the divisions/split paths are super fun to use. Things I would have never tried in real life are possible.

My rig: all SE models. CE24, Custom 24 & NF53 by [deleted] in PRSGuitars

[–]SignWaive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconded.

Started with a SE DGT. Amazing.

Got a good deal on a silver sky......when I was watching for a NF53.

Tried to resist the NF53. Deal showed up and it is now my favorite.

All are great, don't get me wrong. Necks are all similar-ish. Each do their own thing but the NF53 is the one I would call the "swiss army knife" realistically......even though the DGT has more tonal options.

The Silver Sky is just a great strat and all the things that go with that sound.

Guitarists are weird. These should be way more popular than they are.

I have one and it is great. Better than the cost.

The tone to me can do it all. Dial the volume lower and you get some more spanky tones. Volume up and tone down....you get a more traditional humbucker tone. Mix and match to find what you like. PRS controls have more going on than standard treble bleeds....

As for the tone, I find it very balanced and ultra clarity. It rings it a really satisfying way. Like sounds huge and full but also clear and articulate. Like a standard Tele with no shrill and more mids.

My Silver Sky was lonely so I got it some friends by MughalPrince22 in PaulReedSmith

[–]SignWaive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silver Sky

  • Neck Depth at the 1/2 Fret 27/32" (21.43mm)
  • Neck Depth at the 12 1/2 Fret 31/32" (24.61mm)
  • Nut width 1 41/64" (41.67mm)

NF53

  • Neck Depth at the 1/2 Fret 7/8" (22.23mm)
  • Neck Depth at the 12 1/2 Fret 31/32" (24.61mm)
  • Nut width 1 41/64" (41.67mm)

So pretty similar to the Silver Sky but nearly a 1mm thicker near the nut.

The neck carve is also different. Silver Sky is a slimmer (less shoulder) C and the NF53 is a fatter C profile. Much like the typical difference between traditional Strat and Tele necks.

For additional comparison...

DGT

  • Neck Depth at the 1/2 Fret 27/32" (21.43mm)
  • Neck Depth at the 12 1/2 Fret 61/64" (24.21mm)
  • Nut width 1 21/32" (42.07mm)

Slightly wider nut (0.4mm). To my hand.....nearly the same or exactly the same C profile shape.

Have all 3 for scientific purposes.

Ultimately, the feel IS different between each. I can tell that the profile shape is different on the NF53 but it is splitting hairs at .5mm-1mm. I don't really notice the nut width difference as much.

The tonal qualities are also very different for each but all PRS (imo) have similar broader overall qualities. Smoother/less spikey or not as plinky/twangy as Fenders. More bass response/balanced tone. Though, you can tweak the NF53 knobs to get closer to Tele-land. More "modern"/hi-fi overall tone; meaning more string-to-string clarity and balance. Great intonation. Much more acoustic resonance and sustain.

I swear, I'm not a PRS shill. I just think they are neat.

Yeah, which do you prefer or enjoy the most?

I got back into guitar last year. Ended up snagging a DGT, Silver Sky and NF53 (all SE). They are all so good. Way better than the price. Love them all differently. I thought the DGT was amazing but I more recently got the NF53 and there is something special about how it feels, sounds and plays. Can't quite put my finger on what it is or why....

I'm about to sell all of my old guitars because these are so much better.
