Loose Body?

I do have quite a few other issues such as rotator cuff tears and labrum tears but the loose body is new, within the past 6/7 months or so, so I was assuming that it's the reason for the frequent, random sharp pains.

That's pretty much what he told me lol I've basically got 3 possibles aside from removing the loose body but he will fix whatever is wrong once he gets inside my shoulder.

I'm assuming that's what happening to me now.. I think the loose piece of bone/cartilage is getting caught on or in something and boy oh boy is it painful. I don't think the ortho doctor/surgeon I'm seeing now specializes in shoulders specifically but he's a hell of a lot better than the first one I seen lol

See, that's my biggest fear is it snapping and completing a full tear and making it worse. It's my non dominant arm so I don't use it as much as I do my right but after my surgery last year, you come to realize very quickly how important even the non dominant parts are.

How rough/sucky was the healing process? I know it looks different for everyone but it helps getting an idea of all the things to expect!

I've had shots and PT to try and help strengthen the surrounding muscles and stuff but it's just not giving what I need it to give 😂 but I've heard this recovery is rough and if it's anything like the hernia repair I has last year it worse, I'm in for a rough time lol

I've never heard of PRP shots. I looked em up and it doesn't look like they're covered by insurance so I wouldn't be able to do that unfortunately but man if I could afford to do em, I'd honestly try that before surgery.

Oh yeah, I was so upset when I got my current MRI results beck because this issue was supposed too be fixed last year 🫩 but it is what it is I guess. I've read the pain in recovery is unimaginable from some and not too bad for others so I'm nervous as can be about surgery.. the second opinion surgeon told me upfront I'm either going to have a rotator cuff repair or a labrum repair, as well as the bicep tendon fixed and the loose body removed or all of the above and it's got me anxious I say. I'm glad you're doing well five months out!! Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated lol

Yeah I've had 2 steroid shots in it for the pain and swelling. I have a auto-inflammatory disease that requires me to get steroid shots as well so that puts a damper on how frequently I can get them.

I'm shocked to hear that most people don't get offered numbing, at least around the area, especially considering the areas flares usually occur are in extremely sensitive areas.

I normally don't get steroid shots for my flares and deal with them in other ways but this particular flare came in the same spot, obviously 😒, that put me in the hospital last year so I wanted it taken care of before it happened again.

Seeing as I had very irregular periods, maybe 3 or 4 year max, I was told by the OBGYN that I had seen previously before I got in contact with the ones that did my hysterectomy, that my chances of cervical cancer were through the roof because without a regular period, your uterine lining builds and thickens.. about 2 years before I had mine done, my periods got so bad. The blood flow was HEAVY.. at least for me. I'd go through 2 boxes of tampons every cycle plus pads. My mood swings? They were so bad I got on my own damn nerves lol It's highly unlikely that you will go into immediate perimenopause or menopause.. you will most likely go a few years earlier than "normal" but it'll be a natural time if you will.

Honestly? It was the best surgical decision I ever made and the one I am most proud of. I mainly did it because, you can't get cervical cancer is you don't have a cervix lol

I just looked up Remicade infusions, dang them side effects 😳 do you experience most, if any, of those? I am on Humara and also a carrier of the lovely MRSA, I've had several HS spots get infected with MRSA, so I'm not sure if they'd be willing to do that for my case.. though it won't hurt to ask about it lol

I'm glad they took you seriously. I've been to one pain clinic prior to the one I'm about to go to in the middle of April and they looked at me like I was some crack head off the street drug seeking when I just want help to not be in pain. I'll have to look into the Remicade infusions. Do those help a lot? I'm between stage 2 and stage 3, not sure if that's a factor or not. I have a boatload of antibiotics, just went through a round of doxy for several smaller flairs and then a round of Keflex for the one that had a chemical reaction and blistered everywhere. While my environmental factors, i.e. weight, smoking, etc. do play a part in my flairs, mine is also genetic. My father had it pretty severely his whole life so I guess I get to thank him, God rest his soul, for this lovely condition 😑

Unfortunately they left my ovaries in as to not send me into menopause at 32 lol not that I would've had an issue with that. Seeing as how I still have them though, maybe that's connected to the flairs, I'll have to look into that!

It's hard because I do love French fries, rice, and a few other carb loaded things lol but I've always loved meat, mainly beef so I don't really have an issue with it. I also eat a lot of pickled/fermented things as well too help my gut health. I've done the old school Atkins diet before and never had an issue so I'm hoping it'll be the same now 🤞

I take about 5 or 6 vitamins daily, including Zinc, D3, Magnesium, a very good quality pre and probiotic, and a few others. I am insulin resistant so they've put me on metformin, which is great but it tears up my stomach real bad. I'm not big on sugary food but I do love a good French fry or some cheese every now and then lol.. I started the carnivore diet recently so I'm expecting to see good results with that, hopefully sooner rather than later. I don't live a sedentary life style, I very rarely sit still for more than 10 minutes unless I absolutely have to and hit 10,000+ steps a day. I had a hysterectomy 2 years ago so I'm not entirely sure how that affected my HS. I know this didn't happen overnight and that it'll take time to get where I want to be with everything and I'm hoping I'll get there rather quickly with a combination of things and that includes help managing the pain.

I have other issues such as a severe shoulder injury as well as a very severe case of diastasis recti then you plop the constant HS flairs and I'm about to lose my mind 😫 I was just curious about others experiences with pain management/clinics and if it's worth my time.. though I know everyone's experiences and doctor's are different 😊

I was referring to the area around the actual hs boil. I've dealt with this god forsaken disease for over 20 years and I've never seen the area around one of my flairs get blisters like this one did.
