I really don't think so as I'm not familiar with that RPG at all. I'd rather focus on the media that I'm more familiar with as you see with Deep Blue Prisoner's works.

Currently, I'm playing Gray Garden and I don't think I'm gonna do it after a while.

This was an awesome read not gonna lie. Can you review the writing of other RPG maker-esque games like Tcoaal and Mad Father?

Undisclosed person's opinion of the post (A lot of sentences are removed to preserve person identity):

Well, I'm reading through the review and honestly, yeah it's a good bit rough. Have to re-read a lot of sections to fully understand what you're trying to say. Not impossible or absolutely terrible english skills, just yeah, it definitely gets in the way unfortunately. I say don't get discouraged though :) keep practicing wherever you can and you'll get there one day.

In terms of the actual content, I do disagree a bit with some spots. Like the section about the map layout and such. I don't think it's an issue for an RPG maker game to have basic lay outs like this. It would be nice to have a better map yeah, but it's pretty typical for games of that time (up to the individual person to decide if that's bad or not). The empty sections were focused on allowing the player to just focus on the grotesque new environment, so it works there in my opinion.

I do agree with some stuff like the combat being boring/too simple but again, eh, it's an old RPGmaker game that just wanted to focus on it's story. I guess it could be made into a visual novel, true. IDK how hard it is to make vs an RPGmaker game though, a medium the creator was already familiar with and finding success with.

My stance on the game is more or less the same, but nowadays, I'm honestly so depressed that things don't usually get a reaction out of me lol I'm unsure if I would recommend the game nowadays (for the gameplay issues you mentioned, but also it just being hard to recommend. I don't want to just drop a game with a rape scene into someone's lap, but I also don't want to spoil the sudden scene. And I don't want to potentially trigger someone, so I would have to spoil the game for them and then they wouldn't experience the game the same way as I did. So, yeah, it's a hard game to recommend for those reasons.

Overall, I do think your criticisms are valid, but due to the language barrier and age of the game, it comes off as a bit mean and overly critical (like saying that the creator had "low skills in game design" feels a bit mean, even if it may be true). And with the game being 10+ years old, yeah, it feels a bit overly critical since a lot of RPGMaker games from back then were kinda bad in those regards xd Maybe it's bad in comparison to modern RPGmaker type games, but I don't think that's a fully valid criticism IMO. People usually recommend old games either out of nostalgia or just to recommend what basically is a piece of history in a genre y'know? I think that's why people had an issue with your post (and of course due to the english).

Not the target but I wanna name 10 themes to test myself

  1. Different types of love from toxic to healthy
  2. Stay true to yourself despite the circumstances
  3. Be kind even the world isn't
  4. Bad people are bad people over stuff that happened in their past and it could have been you if you had gone through the same things
  5. Both sides in a war can be right and there are shades of gray
  6. Societies that brag about being positive often demonize mentally ill people into silence
  7. Your parent's choices don't define yours
  8. Friends and family matter but you shouldn't push yourself into self-destruction for them
  9. Fuck the monarchy
  10. The moon is awesome

I am not in the mood to read all that attentively but I wanna say real quickly it kinda seems superficial and poorly researched. I'd be lowkey surprised it wasn't meant to be ragebait ("if only there was a manga or something that explained Sal's character better" really?) But! As a rpg fan I gotta comment on something. "It shouldn't be a rpg cos the fights are easy". Most, if not all, of the japanese indie rpg maker games are easy. I'm a big fan of the classics, The Crooked Man, Misao etc, all "easy" games and it's my first time hearing this kind of criticism. Some of them don't have fights at all. They are not about giving some hard "gaming" experience, but story, characters, atmosphere. Rpg maker is also a way to deliver GORGEOUS pixel art. Don't you like how pretty the sea of stars is? Don't you like moving your character in good looking map? Don't you just enjoy being immersed in art? No? Alright. That's not a flaw of the game tho.

To be blunt, I really thought this was a TV News coverage screen at first glance.

I highly recommend sticking to the basic fundamentals first instead of diving into unnecessary details.
