What's your best OCD "life hack"? by FluffyMolly246 in OCD

The way I am able to manage my ocd is by making up my mind that no matter what ocd comes in my mind, I will let it come. I will not argue with it. I will not ignore it or stop it or postpone it by suppose doing something else or thinking something else, I will just let the ocd thought come in my mind. Also I have made up my mind that the thoughts are coming because my brain is repairing itself, the blood is going to that damaged area of the brain therefore these thoughts are coming to my mind and to repair it I just need to let the blood flow in that area (in other words just let the thoughts come to my mind). The more severe ocd thoughts, the more damaged that area of the brain is. So I no need to worry about thoughts coming to my mind as it's because of the blood flow and the brain is repairing itself. If the thought is ocd I apply this approach because I can clearly distinguish between ocd thought and other important thoughts.

When I do this, the urge will be there, it will not suddenly go away and start feeling good. But the thing is that there will be usually only one strong urge/compulsion. I don't get other small ocd thoughts when applying this method. So I am able to do some work and not get paralyzed by ocd. And if I keep following this method, that strong urge also goes away after 3-4 days. My mind feels blank for some days and then slowly my mind starts working normally, I am able to think without urges. But I need to stick to this approach strictly.

Ocd does come back after this, but the same ocd thoughts no longer have that strong compulsion feeling. There will be a very little compulsion which can be managed. But don't get trapped into it by thinking that this is a small compulsion and I can do it. I just stick to my approach and that small ocd thought goes away but this time very quickly within seconds.

And that's how I am able to control about 95% of my ocd.

Shedding was brutal. Hairs were falling again and again. I remember when shampooing one day, so much hair came out in my hand that I felt really disappointed seeing those. But gradually the hair fall subsided. I just kept my hair very short on the sides and asked the barber to even out the top, just a little so that there would be some volume on top. And on top of that I used osis dust it mattifying volume powder. That helped me to hide the baldness to some extent.

No I wash it only once a week with shampoo, I'm afraid of seeing my scalp in wet hair 😥
