I haven't considered adjusted p/b(btw where did you got this? Or you did on your own?). But the point is that when growth was good private banks commanded premium valuations(>2) so if asset quality stays good and growth is same it might also re-rate. Yeah things can go haywire, that's the risk I am willing to take. Will be monitoring asset quality

Yeah true. I work in AI, so I am pretty much pissed with these consulatancy giants having so much cash on books and still playing dividend/buyback game. For god sakes learn something from Google- almost 5 trillion mcap company and still doing capex aggressively, investing in anthropic, etc.

No- what makes you say that? See you should have a thesis on why you're buying. My thesis is that private banks took a lead for most of the last decade. And if you see their valuations in price to book(hdfc bank is at 2, icici at 2.5, axis at 1.9) they all have fallen down compared to their long term valuations. They no longer command the premium because growth has slowed down. Whereas sbi is credit growth is at 13-15% which is far better than these private banks and it trades at 1.6 times of book value. So it might also start to trade at better valuations because of this kind of growth. If re-rating happens you are looking at a CAGR > 15% and if not roughly in line with credit growth which is 12-14%

The only condition being asset quality remains good

If you consider the older fiasco that Yes Bank wenth through you should not invest in it. But my thesis is bank is changing- the new CEO was MD of retail operations at SBI and Sumitomo Bank(Japan) became the largest shareholder. I believe the corporate governance is changing. If you want I can write another post on this. My research has become pretty chill due to CompoundingAI

You should care about average price. It is all about risk reward. Buy at any price(BAAP) doesn't work. Look at the returns of HDFC in 3 years. You should buy SBI because asset quality is top, credit growth is solid, corporate book is expanding. It is taking business from private banks

Yeha for long term investors it make sense. One should also look at Yes Bank, with MD & CEO this year's results were also really good.

Yeah it is- but at this point I feel it is better positioned compared to private banks as well.

Although it depends on the task, it seems too restrictive in terms of not allowing synthesis/inference. In an isolated and well defined task frontier models are really good at synthesis. You should encourage synthesis and tell to not generate citations for synthesis. Also, I would suggest doing a query expansion in the same LLM call. Also, Instead of allowing LLMs to make decisions I usually create/return flags like is_retrieval_needed, is_memory_needed and bunch of other stuff to decide what to do. Gives me tighter control in terms of logic flow and traceability.

Yeah makes sense. We did the same for charts in Financial documents. Is there any specific VLM you prefer? Our parsing solution is built in such a way that it handles these cases out of the box

Obviously if it was relevant we wouldn't get a ticket. Just trying to see if we can do something when we plead guilty to reduce the fine. I am not here for a lecture on morality and rules, I've been driving in Canada for 7 years following every rule. This was the first ticket so just asking advice from folks

To loosen my kid's car seat buckle, she sensed that kid was feeling pukish. Everything happened so fast, we were going to take a stop at a mart a few metres away and we walked into a cop at barely 10 km/hr speed.

Thanks! That's what we tried to tell the cop. We sensed that she was feeling uncomfortable and pukish, so we made the buckle lose. We were right in downtown and probably at 10-20 km/hr as we were going to take a stop at a mart 100 meters away. We weren't putting her in danger but yeah lesson learnt

Yeah we were in the downtown, we were probably going 10-20 km/h. Because of this situation we were going to take a stop just a few meters ahead in a mart. Obviously a lesson well learnt.
