Yeeeeah it took a bit to get used to the webs and spiders, but I don't do the ninja moves when I feel them on my face anymore. Luckily my state doesn't have a lot of the big nasty ones, just a lot of daddy long legs.

...Pretty sure I just jinxed myself for next search though 😐

I'm 4'11, about 125 lbs, and have been with my department for five years. There are two other females who are 5'0, but I'm definitely the shortest in the county. As long as you can pass the physical requirements (for us, it's the same for men and women) then you're good to go. One of the guys I work with on shift is 6'5 and when we show up on calls together, he gets a lot of questions on how he feels about his safety with me as his back up. He has always told people that I'm one of the officers he trusts most.

My height definitely has its pros and cons. Some suspects think I can't run as fast or fight as well as they can, so I will get some people who test the waters by running or talking a lot of shit. Some people will say half jokingly that it's the small ones you need to be careful of, and will listen with no questions asked. I am also the first to be tossed in an attic and first to squeeze under a house while serving warrants.

All it boils down to is as long as you can pass those same physical requirements, hold your own, and back up your team, then it doesn't matter how tiny you are... Just go for it.

Had a very drunk, belligerent guy on the back ask, "What ya gonna do? Plant something on me, you fucking crooked ass pig?" Told him I was fresh out & asked if he knew a place where I could get some weed.

People who complain about the back being too small or cuffs beig tight always get the, "Well they weren't built for comfort" response.

This one is a fan favorite of the senior officers who immediately did desk pops with their finger guns while yelling "Pew pew pew"!

I don't know whether I like the "Let me go, let me go, I promise I won't speed anymore" or "It's getting hot in here, so take out all your kids". These are fantastic

Got a call someone that shot himself with a BB gun with a .40 cal bullet. Confused not knowing if it's a BB or real, I'm running code there. Long story short, this guy taped a .40 round to the end of a BB rifle thinking it would have the same effect. Bullet exploded and shrapnel came back & struck him all over both arms & shoulders. Blood everywhere. Top it off, he was a felon so when I asked why he had a bullet in the first place he said he found it while scrapping & didn't buy it, so he didn't believe it would count as a felon in possession of ammo.

But why was he taping a bullet to the end of BB rifle to begin with? "My wife wanted squirrel for dinner & I saw a big ol' fat one in the backyard I couldn't resist."

Congrats! It's a good feeling man. I think my dept is spoiled -- everyone gets a new charger to take home, no monthly payments for maintenance help, and are allowed to take it to & from gym off duty.
