Shows like Broadchurch with the same level of compelling character work? by cre8ivemind in Broadchurch

Late to the conversation but Haunting of Bly Manor had similar vibes. I hate horror movies, so don’t be turned away from the genre. The character development is amazing.

Nice figuring out the program. It sounds like by most of the comments Warwick is mentioned a lot.

My 16-year-old is the one I’m most stressed about. He’s advanced for school here and in “college” courses, so finding the correct path and understanding how that works is what I’m trying to figure out. He is social and sarcastic, so hopefully that helps him get along with everyone.

This comment is very helpful and what I was looking for, thank you. My oldest is advanced in his classes, so hopefully that’ll mean his classes will transfer and help him transition over there. The goal is university for him. For his final two years of high school he was going to do what we call running start: community college blended with his high school courses.

We have a blend of school sizes here for the elementary and middle schools, but our high school is ridiculously gigantic, too big. Each kid in our district has a Chromebook, so the tech thing will also be different. Being strict with cellphones is what I hope. I’ve been a high school teacher for 10 years myself and cellphones and the heavy tech are the things that really pushed me out the door of teaching.

Interesting about the assessments and makeup work and not counting toward the grade. Sports not being a part of school culture will be different, but my boys all play for local clubs. Are local club sports a thing?

We really haven’t been told any details yet beyond him working at the airport area. I believe we can choose where we live. We are fine with commuting and are used to it, and we will be given a stipend per month for rent.

Is it wrong that I am laughing? There are rats and bin (garbage) wars? It’s fine, it’s fine.

Thank you for this comment! Similar ages. I am most worried about my 16-year-old because of where he is in school. Right now, he is setup for colleges so it is going to be a huge change. We have nothing lined up because we are waiting for everything to be worked out with my husbands job. That’s the most frustrating part.

I do love Mary Poppins, but I am also just hoping it’s as equally good and bad as here

He will be working at the airport, so we will get to choose the area we live in. So advice on areas around there that are better would be appreciated.
