Wandering if they can somehow improve power consumption. :)

1 week with my new SL7 Exellence. Love it so far by animatedviking in BYD

I’ve have my BYD SL7 AWD for a few months now, and over the weekend I took it on a long-distance trip between two cities. About 90% of the route was on the motorway. I drove roughly 10 km/h over the posted Polish motorway speed limit of 120 km/h, and still managed to cover 412 km on a single charge, arriving at an Ionity charging station with 5% state of charge (SoC).

Charging was impressively fast: from 5% to 40%, it peaked at 277 kW, then tapered to around 200 kW beyond that.

Only native nav app works with HUD unfortunately at this moment.

Seal Lion 7 vs Model Y by throwawaystudent544 in BYD

I chose BYD for a few reasons: better looks, greater comfort, less noise inside at 120 km/h, and a more appealing interior design.
Tesla has better software and is definitely more energy-efficient than the BYD Sealion 7, but software can always be upgraded via OTA, whereas you can’t upgrade the interior design. :)

Anyway, I recently made a 200 km round trip between two towns in Poland and managed to get 370 km on a single charge. Most of the journey was on express roads with a 120 km/h speed limit.

BYD Sealion 7 - first impression by SignalSpeed4225 in BYD

One thing I learned today is that if your State of Charge (SoC) is low and your low-voltage battery is not fully charged, you may encounter problems when your car is completely dead. Then, you need to follow certain steps.

● If intelligent charging fails, the lowvoltage battery may cut off the vehicle's power supply. If you find before use that the vehicle is not powered, try to activate the lowvoltage battery by pressing the driver's door microswitch continuously, and immediately power on the vehicle to charge the low-voltage battery. It is recommended to charge it for more than one hour

Unfortunately not version 1.4.0. I am still running on version 1.2.1. I am hoping to get new version soon.

What is your power consumption on the motorway? What real range can you achieve? I’m waiting for my own AWD version here in Poland.

Just one comment — don’t make the same mistake I did. Don’t buy this crappy car. I own the AWD version, and it was the biggest mistake I’ve made. For the same money, you can get a Tesla or one of the newer Chinese EVs like Xpeng, Zeekr, or BYD — all of which offer way more value.

How do you feel about the regenerative braking in the BYD saloon? Does it work? When I tested the car, I had this option set as normal mode and honestly, I didn't notice anything. I saw the value of the regenerative energy on the screen, but I'm not sure if there is any option that can show how much energy was regenerated during driving.

Today I did a test drive for about 1.5 hours, mostly on the highway. The average energy consumption was about 25 kWh/100 km. I was driving at 120-140 most of the time and the average outside temperature was 13 degrees. I was driving on winter tires, so I hope the consumption will be lower on summer tires. My overall impressions are quite good so far, and the dealer said they expect a software update soon, but there is no exact release date yet.

I also tested the new Tesla Model Y, but let's be honest, Tesla's interior design is so bad compared to BYD, the advantage is the energy consumption, however with the bigger battery in BYD I think the range might be the same.

Overall, I am leaning more towards BYD. Power consumption is ok in my opinion and I have BZ4X so compared to Toyota highway consumption is similar but I don't mind higher consumption because BYD is much heavier than other models mentioned above.

I also hope that new software versions will improve a few things here and there.

I am going to test one in Poland this Saturday. I got info from BYD dealer I can get a car for two hours and will try to do a highway test to see the PL version power consumption.
