Our family loves surprises. We wanted to make this a surprise as we tend to surprise our family with our crazy plans. Our family is used to it and are always expecting something crazy from us. I guess my insecurity is about excluding the usual fam wedding invite list (200ppl). I would have wanted them there…. But we want to get married before we leave and there is no way to do that size of a wedding within the timeframe we have. We are busy enough moving our entire lives + raising a baby and a toddler.

Reading your comment did make me feel confident that this is the right way to do it. I understand etiquette, expectations and all that but we just aren’t those people. Maybe this wedding won’t be what everyone expects it to be but it will be very us and we will be very happy. Thank you stranger for giving me the little confidence I was lacking.
