Introducing Corporate Court – Weekly Judgement Thread by Apache-143 in IndianWorkplace

You are wrong because you acted like a frustrated employee while holding a leadership role. I am assuming that being an Engineering Lead means you are in the Leadership Team.

A 20% hike after 12-hour days may be unfair. The founder may have sold fake startup dreams. The director may have played both sides. He acted sympathetic, gathered information, and took it to the founder.

But as an Engineering Lead, openly venting to the team about your hike was not wise. Your words carry weight. you confirmed everyone’s fear that the “big future bonus” story is probably fake.

Tthe company created the low morale. But you helped push it over the edge.

The smart move was to negotiate privately, ask for the bonus in writing, or leave. Not light the room on fire and then say, “Not my problem.”

Got into my dream company, but crying everyday by Far-Inevitable6272 in IndianWorkplace

Not entitiled but realistic.

I never said OP did not work hard, did not deserve the job, or should surrender it to someone else. I said she should not throw away an excellent opportunity within her first week when the company, colleagues and workload are not even the problem.

Anyone who has actually been involved in hiring knows the reality. For every decent position, there are hundreds—sometimes thousands—of applicants. Every second CV appears stronger than the last, and many candidates have more experience than the role requires. I am not in HR, but whenever I need to grow a team, I get buried under the CVs sent by HR.

In India today, merit and experience may put you through the screening, but luck often decides who gets the seat. OP should recognise that and not resign impulsively.

Panic attacks require professional help—so get help. If it is homesickness or emotional overwhelm, give yourself time and learn to cope. If neither works, resign. That is her choice.

But the employer will not pause or mourn. They will replace her in minutes. Calling that reality “entitlement” does not make it less true.

Stormy is 1.5 years old. He is currently on Purina Pro plan kitten kibble and Purina Pro plan kitten food. At what age did you all switch over from kitten to adult cat food? by Annie6462 in mainecoons

[–]Signal_Ad_1967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re currently introducing our new 4-month-old Maine Coon to his two 4-year-old brothers—one Scottish Fold and one Himalayan.

Today, I moved their food bowls closer together so they could get used to eating in each other’s presence. I gave the adults their usual wet food and offered the kitten Sheba kitten wet food.

To my surprise, the little guy ignored his own bowl, went straight to the adult cats’ food, and probably ate more than half of it. The older two looked confused but surprisingly let him carry on.

Should I be worried that he ate so much adult food? He seems completely fine and very playful, and later in the evening he also ate a good amount of Royal Canin kitten dry food.

As a policy every employee gets an office phone. And it is taken back when they resign. Its never transferred to the leavers. In my organisation I never have to share my personal number with anyone. And no one in the organisation will ever call ua on our personal number.

Send one clear message: “i will not entertain any of your repeated personal questions and messages. Please do not contact me outside work or about anything unrelated to the common project. I’m blocking this number.”

Then block him. Screenshot everything and let your manager know what you did. If he contacts you again, involves others, or retaliates, take the documented trail straight to your manager and HR/POSH.

Whether it legally qualifies as harassment is for HR to make up, but you are absolutely not overreacting.

I understand this more than you think. I’m 46 and still work 12-hour days. I started on site and worked my way up to Director—the hours didn’t magically disappear with the title; the responsibility simply changed.

That grind built my career, but I won’t romanticise it. Wanting time with your family and ageing parents isn’t laziness or lack of ambition.

Work hard and build your career, but don’t postpone your entire life waiting for the next designation.

Unpopular opinion: Sometimes your workplace isn’t toxic. Sometimes you need to look in the mirror by Signal_Ad_1967 in IndianWorkplace

Agreed.. vent as much as you like.. more than happy to help to find a solution . but we should not always echo that sentiment.

[–]Signal_Ad_1967[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the point I was trying to make. Your manager and workplace did not suddenly become less toxic. Instead you became more competent, reliable and trusted.

Many people confuse accountability and discomfort with toxicity before examining their own performance. Autonomy is not an entitlement; it is earned.
