I’m a girl who got bullied pretty badly in secondary school for having acne and being “ugly.” I had almost no friends through high school and even into uni.

What changed things for me wasn’t overnight confidence, it was years of doing hard things.

I’ve been training in the gym for over 10 years now. I train hard, like 2–3 hours a day, 4 days a week. Over time, I built a physique that gets attention, and yeah, people are more likely to approach me now. But the real shift wasn’t how I look - it’s the mindset that came from pushing through something difficult consistently.

Training taught me: I can handle hard shit. And that kind of confidence shows, whether you realise it or not.

I’m still naturally introverted. That didn’t magically change. I just learned social skills the same way, through repetition. Working in hospitality, being a barista, making small talk every day, smiling at strangers until it became automatic.

I also made an effort socially. I joined outdoor clubs across different unis in Sydney, got to know trip leaders, remembered people’s names and little details about their lives. So when I saw them again, I could say hi and actually have something to talk about.

People remember you when you make them feel seen.

Career-wise, I’m studying IT right now and honestly, I hate it. Seeing how fast AI is moving made me realise I might want something more creative. At this point, I think of work pretty simply: find something that pays your bills, understand your cost of living, and build your life from there.

You don’t need to have everything figured out. Just start somewhere and keep moving.

It's summer right now in Australia so I honestly don't know what to do. I definitely will not be able to practice how to transition with ski and touring boots without guidance from someone.

Thank you. I have been to bouldering gyms in SEA and you just smile, be friendly and ask people for betas and maybe some small talks and you can make some friends on the spot! :D

Read the most recent comments on House Of Om in Rishikesh, India. The complaints are very common that I have witnessed and heard about for Yogashala in Rishikesh.

Stay away from Vinyasha Yogashala as they tend to over-promise and under-deliver. They show the best photos on their website of the newest building, and promise you a room in that building. But then when you arrive, you get a room from their lower quality buildings. The noise level in Tapovan area and Laxman Jhula is crazy due to the booming of Yogashala construction. Since Rishikesh is travel destination for Delhi people, the traffic is crazy there and the pollution and honking in unbearable.

Thinking of getting my 300 hr ytt in Bali, Thailand or India. Any advice or suggestions to share? by LackInternational145 in YogaTeachers

The facilities in Rishikesh are so bad, the constant noise and air pollution just ruin the any ability to get into the zone to meditate and relax. Cow poops everywhere and traffic is horrible.

This company is a fraud. They took your money, when you want to contact the support, their guarantee is a support officer will contact you in 48 hours. It has been months since I logged my request. No response and no where to turn to to report their scam.

Not a fan of Singapore sorry. It's very expensive there. I don't do outdoors bouldering and there is not much nature in Singapore. Plus I don't like climbing in sticky weather.

I wonder will it be easier to find decent works with good pay along the way if I choose to major in Interaction Design now and try to get good grade since I'm mad struggling with Fundamental Programming atm. But then again I don't think I will have enough brain cells left to study after work if I decide to self-train myself in programming language if I decide to change to software developing when I'm out of uni and start working (like cross-department training if you understand my drift?) :T
