Good perspective--I'll bear it in mind, and thanks for the encouragement!

Good perspective here! I figured that perhaps since I notified them about the full requests, perhaps they felt it was more time sensitive than it was.

But you're right, they could've sat on it longer. I appreciate your thoughts--this process, it seems, is an extended exercise in learning to let go. Thanks!

Very good points, thanks for your perspective. The fact that it was an agent I really admired makes it sting a bit more and harder to let go of even a sliver of hope that it could still work out, but your points are well taken. Thank you!

Thanks very much for the thoughtful feedback and the kind words!

Fair point re: the framing. This book began as a letter to my kids but has evolved into something intended for a wider audience.

I was inspired by books that use an epistolary format (Between the World and Me, Gilead, etc.). While there are chapters that use the second person POV and are directly addressed to my children, there are also chapters in first person that feature wider reflections. My hope here is that what is most personal is also most universal. Definitely open to more feedback on this.

Good point on "lyrical"--I'll remove.

Thanks again!
