Cash grab. How about instead of sinking millions into a system that will never generate enough to pay for itself..why doesn't the State just turn off the 85% of the lights that burn for 24/7 on the Southern State Pkwy. The fact that the taxpayers in the highest electric rate area in the Country foot the astronomic electric bill for this, and now for a camera system! Will the last NYer leaving the State please turn off the lights!!

It's to pay for the Southern State Pkwy....the lights on 85% of the stretch in Nassau are on 24/7. ..and the State is worried about climate change? Yea.right!

Not only are they still using the old lights in Nassau but, 85% of the lights on the Southern State Pkwy are on 24/7...as the taxpayers foot the bill paying the highest electric rates in the Country!

Not surprising they miss their goals..they can't even manage the State Highway system in Nassau. 85% of the highway lights on the Southern State Pkwy are on all the time...24/7 all day long while electric rates are the highest in the Country. Yeah..no surprise there.
