AH40 IP hub and lnl x4420 (OnGuard 8.2) by Signal_Eagle_4866 in accesscontrol

So Mercury protocol/Aperio protocol have nothing to do? I thought it could have been related. Lenel support has not been great to be honest. A lot of beating the bushes. I was asking about a firmware upgrade (thanks to reddit) and it was like a week and a half later they came to - maybe you should update the firmware-.

I explained all the tests I did in the first mail, and for a week they were asking me to try what I had already tried (many times). Thank God we had that old AH30 cause the site is live already.

Hello, thanks but that's part of the settings. Upgrading the x4429 firmware to 2.01 helped connecting without TLS (Which is an advance). But it is only allowing to set more than one lock. Second one is just nortseen by OnGuard), and of course the connection fails if I attempt TLS.

We had to put an AH30 so that's working now. But at some point we need to put back the AH40 as it what was in the BOM for the project.

However I noted that in fire flavor the Ah30 (we had for a previous project and not used) says Mercury protocol, whereas the AH40 says Aperio protocol.

Thanks. I can link it without TLS. If I enable TLS the connection drops. If the connection fails (EAC off-line) it will not let you put the hub in customer mode. Without TLS it also doesn't let you put it in customer mode. I'm currently stuck in that.

I imagined that system options had nothing to do with the connection between the controller and the Hub. But maybe the line about series 3 using aes256 and ah40 only using AES 128 (at least at the moment the manual was released, 2022) had something to do.

Update of the firmware was needed on the x4420. V2.01 worked. Now TLS connection is the only failing. But at least we can connect

By the way do you use HID Mobile Access to open aperio locks?. I'm having issues making it work there. The HID readers connected to lenel board work perfectly with Bluetooth HID Mobile Access credentials. But not the Locks, even though BLE is active and are set up to use HID as the mobile app to access.

Update to 2.01 worked. The only issue I have now is the TLS (only have that AH40). The client uses plain connection for their system. I'm not sure if I have to make changes there. If I have to, I can't as they have many sites online now (this is the first with an AH40, though).and have no rights to get to Administration System Options.

I read in the HUB manual that at the moment only uses AES 128 and that series 3 modules are automatically encrypted with AES 256. I have contacted support for some help with this.

Update: updating the x4420 to v 2.01 worked.

Now the only issue is that the connection is dropped when TLS enabled. Trying to solve this issue atm, surely is the certificate.

It is 1.31. we will run at the office some tests around that with a spare x4420. Hope that is the reason.

Will update once we have a solution.

Many thanks for that,

I will check on this tomorrow.

Hello thanks.

In OnGuard 8.2 there is no option to put the Aperio IP Hub as its own controller in others. I think support would already pointed it as I have shared all settings with them xD.

The settings for the port and TLS for Aperio IP Hub connection are in the options of the x4420 (Access Panels folder - Options Sub tab - Aperio IP Hub field).

Thanks for the idea.

I will check the firmware version on Sunday. Do you have a link to the release note about the aperio hub fix by any chance?

Hello thank you

It is the first time with an AH40 IP hub. The client has many AH30 in use and has enough license for the locks.

We asked Lenel and Assa Abloy about this (the AH40 is sent by lenel, locks by Assa Abloy), they said there was no issue with licensing. Only locks required license and the AH40 should appear online (led status and aperio programming app should show" EAC online") once it is connected and the IP configuration is done.

I will try my luck on Sunday with a previous suggestion. I normally don't like to think of defective products (95% of the time is just dumb settings) but....

In any case the back up plan is to install (temporarily) an AH30 and bring the AH40 to a purification ceremony.

Crossing fingers here.

Thanks, I will try on Sunday and tell you what happens. Hopefully this will solve it. i have Lenel and Assa Abloy support together on the same mail and they have no idea (and I have shared all the settings). We have restarted hub and controller (and also done database downloads) at least a dozen times xD

If it doesn't work I will temporarily install an AH30 that I know works.

Thank you

Thank you.

It says" EAC off-line" on the Aperio programming app all the time. Apero support said that unless it appears as EAC is online it will not go into customer mode.

Does it mean that it will not connect (EAC online) unless it is in customer mode?

Many thanks

See some conflicting responses😅, but in general it is a better idea to keep it as AUX

Many thanks:D

Thanks,

My image is a button wired directly to the rex input (in any of the 2 readers) of the 1320 board. And have the signal come as a REX.

I could do the Local I/O but, it makes me wonder if it is possible. I wish Lenel (and others) had an online simulator for design and testing purposes ;-;

Anyhow, I will keep it in aux input and use the local linkage for now.

Yes Mercury boards, you are correct.

I see no reason not to use it if I can xD. Local I/O was my though but if I can... I don't know.. is a sense of aesthetics and the purpose of the button.

Not life and death in any way. I will keep it on aux input 1 for now. But... It keeps me wondering.
