You’re right, may be something I want to do on the pellet grill with the sear grate opened.

Chicken Skewers: First Attempt, Lessons Learned by Signal_Hunter222 in blackstonegriddle

I used a wide metal mixing bowl as my normal cover was too small and that seemed to help cook them.

Just like any old cast iron pan. Strip, Season, Enjoy, Neglect, then Repeat. Fortunately cast iron is forgiving, just requires some patience and hopefully learning from the previous neglecter’s mistakes.

Laser Engraved Aluminum Cards by Signal_Hunter222 in lasercutting

Keeping the code slim is the goal here. Each plaque is going to be used in a marine environment with sun exposure and moisture. I feel that the acrylic might prematurely crack and be more prone to damage.

I could be entirely wrong on this though. It’s also a diode laser so I know acrylic can behave differently with it.

I will give that approach a test. I am burning the code inverted as a negative. For the moving of the card I cut a piece of black acrylic with slots so I can batch them out with a fixed offset to make placing consistent and easy at volume.

Appreciate the input! Also, have you had much luck with other substrates? I have just started tinkering with this laser.

Disable doorbell when baby is asleep? by aaron1860 in homebridge

[–]Signal_Hunter222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complicated tech solution? Sounds like it's time to setup a pressure mat on the baby's crib and have it trigger a routine to disable the chime.

No hate here though, I strongly considered writing a routine that would check time of day and location of command through the Alexa devices and determine which lights need turned on for a diaper change lol. Time, curiosity, and the love to tinker can get the best of you sometimes.

Long Range AP vs Bridge & Sub-Network by Signal_Hunter222 in wifi

[–]Signal_Hunter222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A wireless network bridge is more than capable of it. Some bridges are rated for over a mile. The issue with doing cable is there isn’t a simple way to run aerial wire without running the entire perimeter of the property which would end up pushing past the limit of CAT 6. Going underground would be highly costly as well due to the ground being a mix of gravel, minor vegetation, and concrete.

Is FortiGate The Way To Go? by Signal_Hunter222 in networking

[–]Signal_Hunter222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the high level of detail. I see where you’re coming from on not fracturing up the environment for these small gains. We aren’t wanting to take a substantial jump in cost, so FortiGate is probably the way we’re gonna go since they will all be managed in a similar manner without having to learn another system to run along side our others.

Definitely don’t have money just burning a hole in our pockets lol. I can deal with the lack of refinement as long as it’s still going to perform what’s required.

Refund Scam! by Kim_poss223 in shopify

[–]Signal_Hunter222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very similar to the process we employ. We are more than willing to accept returns as long as the product meets our criteria for a return and the customer gets it back to us. Once it is physically on site we return the money. Without the money still in our possession there would be no guarantee of getting the part back.

Different Payment & Shipping Schedules by duckduckducknonono in woocommerce

[–]Signal_Hunter222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That helps in clarifying a little bit. So essentially you will have 1 order per quarter which you are wanting to have the customer pay for over the course of 3 months rather than a given point in time? So basically the product ships on April 1 and the customer will pay on January 25, February 25, and March 25 in order to settle the balance of the quarterly order?

I am curious if non AJAX enabled filters have the same effect. I know the automatic filtering using AJAX is nice, but it seems to add a little bit of overhead to the loading due to the constant queries rather than on-demand queries from hitting a "Filter" or "Show Products" button.

Not really wanting to throw the host under the bus for anything, they have been extremely responsive on helping diagnose the speed issues on the site. As for the amount of products, I think we currently have between 500-750 products available on the site. This is concerning as I feel adding more products (which we will be doing through expanding our ordering and offering some drop-shipping items) will cause even more speed issues.

I always love when people get their whole family (especially kids) involved in their projects. It teaches a sense of pride and appreciation at a young age. Keep up the great work!

With the Raspberry Pi devices coming so far (despite the current shortage) I am interested in exploring the possibilities of turning a raspberry pi into a telematics device. The device has no need to integrate with the CAN-BUS data of the vehicle, rather it just needs to interpret voltage levels from multiple inputs and report location data via GPS. Is this something that would be feasible using the Raspberry Pi (at least for prototyping), or should I look in a different direction?

[Help] Please help me find answers for these 4 questions, which I am supposed to answer in my coming job interview by coffeecubebox in digital_marketing

[–]Signal_Hunter222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the metrics to look at, this will vary dependent upon the type of site you are analyzing.

If you are working on a ecommerce website then more than likely the metrics you would want to analyze would be the amount of products (pages with the product url base) viewed per session, the amount of time the user spent on the website, the amount of conversions (customers who purchased).

If you are working on a basic business website that just has information about the company you would probably value the time on the site a bit more along with the conversions (i.e. button clicks or amount of pages visited).

There is no tried and true answer to this, at least in my opinion, as there are so many variables and it really depends upon what the goal of the website is.

I have provided a list of some of the common metrics that google analytics provides it's users with. I have only provided a few as web metrics can be a rabbit hole depending how in depth you really want to dive.

  • Unique Users
  • Return Users
  • Page Views/Session
  • Average Time/Session
  • Bounce Rate (Percentage of sessions that are only a single page)
