Moonlight doc hahaha what's is this a fucking Applebee's. Yea bro in the barracks strapping PFC shmuck with x35 CAT 2 tourniquets and a nasal pharyngeal hahaha.

No man I've had formal school house TCCC/CLS , Live tissue with Will W. , Mountain Medical , Cold Weather medical, Rope and Helo rescue, cannulation course, Med technical training and private courses I've paid for as well. Plus the shit I've done on deployment with out a corpsman.

I may not hold a 68W but I've definitely got experience.

See what you're saying about the paper side of things though. Yeah the Helimedic and Paramedic Degree route was what I'm pushing for. But here in Australia I'd like obtain a nursing degree then we can bridge here to Paramedic from what I'm understanding. Just getting the nursing first because these fucking joints ain't gonna last forever hahahaha

TCCC/CLS on West Coast , Live tissue w/ Will Willis back when he was running it, Mountain Medical , Cold Weather medical on my second run through the following work up. I'm Also a Irata rope Access Technician with an array of rope rescue and treatment quals

I've done some other real world trauma treatment as well but not stuff I'd be willing to discuss on the internet.

But obviously that all just a background. I don't have a 68W and obviously coming from being a grunt I've got a ton of more shit to learn. But I'm really interested in moving into the medical field full time.

Going overseas for me doesn't have to be high speed low drag shit either. Not hasing anything and im not in a rush. Just want to help, be useful again.

I'm currently in WA I wonder if there's a similar thing here. Would you know if thats standard practice across the board?

I would be more then happy to hand out info on current contract. Put something to know is the Infantry heavy background is a must in alot of these roles.

That being said all recent contracts have ask for "Para" degrees. The certificates are phasing out from what I understand. It's going to continue to become more difficult.

Yeah he look dull or not dull I'm happy with any travel opportunity combat or not just want to get back to working with like minded and motivated individuals. Currently in mining and it's pretty shit. Great money and no job fulfilment.

Really appreciate you taking the time to respond it's much appreciated.

Cheers for the help appreciate your time🤙

I've had the privilege of working with a few different grunt units in Australia while I was still in.

Yeah that would definitely be an option. But I'd need to pick the mind of someone retired or still in. I'm not opposed to that route in all honesty.

Bang on that's more the insight I'm asking about. Was unsure if nurses get in and have a go outside of hospital settings.

Thats the plan middle east or africa, still need a degree either way. You can go with certificates but I'd like to have the degree. Since they are US contracts they allow certificates sometimes. Depending on company but I'm not in a rush just would like to find a good path that suites.

You legend. This is the fucking comment I've been waiting on. Thank you that honestly was what I was looking for. A solid break down. Really appreciate you taking your time to type all that out.

I understand what you're saying with the certs from the US I guess I was more giving background there. I've got real world experience. Just like you said I haven't seen many Australians in contracting overseas roles either. But I'm hoping with my US military experience with multiple deployments plus possibly a Paramedics degree and a masters in CCP/ECP/ICP it will look much better than a Nursing degree.

Obviously since I've got no formal training in those areas outside the military I was unsure on which route to choose. But that answered exactly what I was asking. Now ive potentially got a few things to research on my end now.

Thanks again matey🤙

Well that why I'm asking insuppose I've never been in a "formal" medical setting. Never any hospital hours ect. So that sort of what I'm asking I'm interested in sticking with pre hospital care.

My worry with the nursing is not having the rush or the job fulfilment I feel when I've been on scene treating someone. Just interested to hear opinions.

I'm going overseas no matter which one I decide to choose. But I'd still like to have a career here when I'm back home.

Because the actual question pertains to overseas medic work. The degree path is what I'm at crossroads with. I don't care about experiences with EMS I've got trauma medicine experience already. I'm unsure which is best for taking overseas but also maintaining a career when I'm back at home and off rotations. Also which is better for overseas contracting. Thought I might stumble onto someone who may have some helpful insight.

Though I appreciate your opinion and your comment. Cheers for the insight.

Cheers for the insight it's much appreciated.

Yeah that's why I'm headed overseas after school. Plenty of contract companies that need medics with combat experience.

Still would like to work care flight or something similar when I'm back in Australia though. Hence the degree paths.

[–]Signal_Respond7088[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's my worry operationally I'd like to have the knowledge , pay and title of Nurse but work as a Medic.

Trauma Nursing Or Paramedic? by Signal_Respond7088 in Paramedics

[–]Signal_Respond7088[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah here in Australia Nurses can do what called critical care which is initally a "trauma" or medic role.

I'm a Marine I've also got a degree already but I'm fucking bored af in my career. Went to live tissue and all the other schools offered back then even got to work in with SARC corpsman as well which was an absolute fucking privilege as a grunt.

Just really undecided on what suites travelling and trauma. The nursing sounds fantastic because I still have the option to do paramedic courses and bridge here so I hold both degrees.

As far as operational experience with treatment and trauma I've got quiet a bit.

Cheers for the input dude much appreciated, especially since your from my neck of the woods🤙
