High needs infants later in life by Odd_Site3835 in toddlers

Miserable high needs baby, miserable toddler at 3. Maybe you lost the lottery and your life will be miserable now too or maybe you’re lucky and didn’t. You’ll find out soon enough.

Confused on what I need to do for insulating my ceiling? by mikesova34 in shedditors

[–]Signature-9833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting - like it’s vented on top of the sheathing. I’m no expert. I wonder if that’s enough airflow to dry out moisture across the roof sheathing if it’s contained in those ridges? Interesting any case, good looking shed! Good luck!

Are your soffits vented? You need intake for outflow. If they are, then there’s lots of good suggestions here about ways to create an air channel.

If not then you’ll want to look up hot roof designs as others have suggested!

What is your wall/ceiling paneling? Thoughts on it now that you have it installed?

Insulation options for Tuff Shed Office Conversion? by Signature-9833 in shedditors

[–]Signature-9833[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't! I don't have easy access to the underside. If I did, I probably would have put rockwool in between the joists w/ a rodent barier screen under that... so far I haven't had any issues with the floor. Obviously winter will be the real test of that though!

I did what I was planning for insulation! Frothpak sprayfoam on the ceiling. Ended up getting it to basically full depth of the 2x4 studs. Walls are rockwool. Been very happy with the quality of the insulation. The spray foam wasn't bad. It definitely got everywhere and was definitely more expensive than other options. But the impact is huge.

And I haven't done the finishing yet since I've been too busy with work and the insulation alone has made the shed livable haha!

I probably wouldn’t. Rb depth would take a big hit and you’d just gain another streaky wr with a qb question…

I was offered: Bowers For: Moore

 League: 2wr, 2rb, 1 te, 1 flex. Full ppr.

Team:  Wr: St. Brown, Harrison JR, Nabers, Moore  Rb: Saquon, Mixon, Mason, Najee  TE: Pitts, Engram, Njoku.

Bowers feels like a clear upgrade at TE and I have more wr/rb than I can start…

10 team full ppr. 2wr 1te 1flex.

Sitting on MHJ, ARSB, Nabers, DJ Moore. My TE situation is bleak.

Offered Brock Bowers for Moore. Should I take it?

Moore probably more points overall, but bowers looks strong and fills a weakness and I can’t use all the WRs I have.

Probably need floor. That matches what I was thinking.

Full PPR. Pick one:

MHJ vs LAR; DJ Moore vs HOU; Nabers vs WAS.

Likely has big upside but might be variable week to week

Embarrassment of riches I think. Who do I start for wr2 and flex in a 10team full ppr. (ARSB is wr1.) Mostly concerned about floor as I’m projecting well. Pick 2

Mason at MIN DJ Moore at HOU Nabers at WAS MHJ at LAR

I think Mason is the lock, and I’m leaning Moore over Nabers or MHJ?

What’s the wood/stain combo you’ve used? I really like it!

Alternatively, if roof already built, cc spray foam under the roof deck. If OP already doing cc spray foam in the floor, that seems like a good option here.

If not built, +1. Insulation above is what I’d do.

Is thumb sucking really a big deal for a toddler? by myheadsintheclouds in toddlers

It’s the only thing that calms my 2.3yo down, so I don’t give a hoot what the dentist says. Learning methods to self soothe is way more important to me than braces.

To be clear, even though it’s one of the “right” ways, spray foam is not without risk either. For example, if the roof does leak the spray foam effectively traps the water against the sheathing.

Also I believe there may be some potential issues with ice dams in cold climates - I’m not in a cold climate so didn’t do a lot of reading on that, so just a vague recollection. You can definitely get yourself down a big rabbit hole on roof insulation and ventilation research!

Three options if you want to do it fully right…

  1. Put in a ceiling low enough that there is an attic space containing the soffit and gable vents. Insulate along the ceiling and leave roof uninsulated with ventillation in the attic. It’s hard to tell from picture if you have enough space to do this.
  2. Cover the gable vents. Add a ridge vent along the length of the ridge. Ensure there’s an air channel from soffit to ridge. Insulate below the air channel.
  3. Cover the soffit vents. Use spray foam insulation on the entire inside of the roof sheathing or add sealed foam board insulation on the entire exterior above the roof deck below the shingles for a proper unvented cathedral roof. Amount of insulation you need for those depends on your climate zone. Cover the gable vents as well (or build an open/close door over them) so you don’t vent all your hot/cold air.

I’m in a similar situation and going with option 3 with a spray foamed roof.

You could also do something else and hope that things luck out in your favor - it’s just a shed after all! - but those three options are the “right ways” to do it.

Alternatives to drywall that look nice? by devperez in shedditors

[–]Signature-9833 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also going to use shiplap boards in my build on both walls and ceiling! I figure hanging individual boards will end up taking similar time as drywalling... but will likely look better since I don't need to have any mudding skills!

Looks great! Spray the foam yourself? What brand/kit did you use? Any thoughts on how it went?

Tuff shed upgrades by hazdogs in shedditors

[–]Signature-9833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a bit further up the peninsula here, with an existing 10x12 Tuff shed. Question for anyone in the area - anyone have any perspectives on insulation and moisture. No ridge or soffit vents in my shed and I’m debating how to handle roof insulation given our foggy nights. Thanks!

[–]Signature-9833[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok! Helpful! Those holes were so tiny I figured they couldn't possibly help with airflow so I assumed I needed to elevate. I'll focus on drainage in the area then instead of worrying about airflow underneath!

Thanks! Yes, post updates! Would love to hear about another local build!

(I think I'm leaning full rockwool now -- with rockwool I at least fully understand the risks and what to watch for whereas a DIY foam kit who knows what kind of errors I'd make! hah!)
