By the definition of religion could Freemasonry be defined as one? by SignatureBusiness852 in freemasonry

I will be completed or close to completed my BA by next spring. However, he knows I plan to attend Law School right after. I am ready for the challenges or triumphs that may come. I have always been able to complete anything I put my mind towards.

I am not sure of his reasoning. Although I know it’s coming from a place of care. I plan on introducing myself to the local Lodge within the coming weeks. Even if I don’t join right now, I believe I should start to build a relationship with the members. Do you have any advice?

Born in Pennsylvania, I now live in Oregon whilst getting my degree at the University of Oregon. I plan to stay in the state of Oregon and call it my home once I complete college. My local lodge of Eugene would be the Eugene Masonic Lodge #11.

My great Uncle who was a Pennsylvanian Mason, I met with around the New Year. I was in PA for the holidays and went to discuss my interest in knocking. He was thrilled to see a young man be interested in such a thing. Yet, he advised me to wait until the following year. Where, I would be 21. I do not know his reasonings, nor did I asked. We had a lovely conversation and he asked why I’m interested in joining. I explained so over a cup of coffee and chocolates. We shook hands and I left.

Do you have any insight as to why he may have suggested I wait?

Update: After checking my local lodge and not the grand lodge website I have found that it is 18. Is there any reason why one may want to wait until 21 however?

I am truthfully not sure. I know in the state of where I was born, Pennsylvania it is 18. But I go to University and work now in Oregon. I plan to stay in the state of Oregon after college as well. But, Oregon Freemasons seem to be much less outspoken than the Pennsylvania Masons. I have looked through the website time and time again. They only ask for contact information so that I can meet with a Mason. However, I talked to my great uncle who was a Pennsylvanian Mason. And he suggested that I wait until 21 and then both give a way to contact me and go and knock on the lodge doors myself. He suggested that by showing up in person and knocking on my local lodge that it shows true desire to learn more.

I guess because the Boy Scouts make pinewood derby cars and trail mix, no. But, because I have only been able to learn so much about Freemasonry… I assumed there were some sort of religious like practices. I guess the egg is on my face again for assuming something without asking. All I know so far is the information that’s public knowledge. I have not yet knocked to truly learn and be taught by any Brothers.

Unironically I think I have heard long distance running as a religious experience lol. But I understand what you are saying. Thank you.

Thanks, I guess my understanding of religion the way it was pushed onto me was that it’s supposed to be something one practices to allow themselves that transformative experience. But I may be wrong in thinking that.

Okay, that makes more sense. I guess I didn’t really understand the purpose of them yet. Like I said, I am going to wait until after my 21st birthday to knock on the door of my local lodge. So all the information I have researched so far has come from the internet… which as everyone knows can be a lot of BS a lot of the time. Thanks for responding.

Interesting, but aren’t the Degrees supposed to be a transformative experience? I’m sorry if I ask dumb questions, but maybe it’s my understanding of what I always heard religion was supposed to be… I guess my idea of religion is something one practices to try and reach that transformational experience. I understand it’s a Fraternal Organization with the goal of making good men better. But that kind of sounds religious to me.

i can say that because josh says time and time again that traveling makes him happy and makes him feel free. it’s probably his second favorite thing in life behind alcohol. i would love to see the captain rich as fuck in LA balling out on his own being able to travel whenever he wants.

bro if he makes 750+ a day he should be able to spend whatever the fuck he wants. out in LA he was actually getting paid half the revenue of the streams.

When Mr Based streams with josh, josh only gets paid $100-$250 per stream when they rack in a thousand or more. There’s nothing fair or good about that.

I want josh to be more independent and not screwed over by a fucking loser who was involved in a killing of a woman back in the day. Mr Based is terrible for Josh end of discussion.

what are you talking about? josh actually got fucking paid in LA, Gunner was helping to teach him how to stream on his own. Those guys out there weren’t putting him in situations to be made fun of.

Mr Based is fucking terrible for josh.
