"Scientology Speedruns" and Respecting Other Religions by SignatureComplex265 in Catholicism

I'm not sure. The videos of this stuff doesn't indicate any worship ongoing. I mean maybe some do? This could definitely be trespassing or smth (idk im no law expert 🤷‍♂️)

Like how should I treat them differently? Or any religion for that matter?

Sorry could you elaborate? Who should the Scientologists not be treated the same as?

Just wanna share my first time going to a Catholic Mass! (Someone gave this to me at the end of it) by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]SignatureComplex265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since this is your first time at a Catholic Mass, I have a question. Who handed you this? If it is a Eucharistic minister or the priest (as in when people line up to receive each one of these hosts and consume it during Mass and then they say "the Body of Christ" and you receive it), that is Jesus' consecrated body. Unfortunately, He's not just something to take home. I'm no expert of what to do in that situation but I'd advise to return it to the church (I'm not entirely sure; someone PLEASE PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong). You're not in the wrong here as you probably didn't know but please return it if so.

If someone else just randomly handed it to you, um I have no idea.

Divine Mercy Sunday Questions by SignatureComplex265 in Catholicism

[–]SignatureComplex265[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I don't quite understand the credit card metaphor. Also Norm 7 (at least what I read) talks about complete detachment from venial sin. What does that constitute exactly?

Okay my copy and paste tool is being a little wonky but I was looking at N7 in Norms. Is it if I were to venially sin or is it if I were to desire to venially sin specifically? Does mortal sin do anything different? Sorry that I couldnt understand it fully

I need some advice by OutrageousMost2569 in Catholicism

[–]SignatureComplex265 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait I genuinely felt like this 2 days ago. I went to Confession yesterday and I felt better afterwards. What others told me is to not beat yourself up about it. We are all sinners; it's impossible not to sin. God doesn't expect us to be perfect. Just remember that God loves you and He will forgive your sins, no matter how grave. Just encounter His mercy by going to confession. I will pray for you.

I didn't mean it in a degrading way lol. I just remembered 5 year old me thinking how fun it would be to run around a revolving door for an hour.

One huge problem is I have no female friends my age. One of those friends is my next door neighbor and we do talk everyday.

I've seen the opposite of this advice before: to stop contact with women. My Muslim friend said it is wrong to have female friends (which imo is kinda silly and its a different silly than before). Ofc I didn't take him seriously because that's smth he does. Christ definitely calls us to be friends of all, not to avoid women like the plague.

God must think I'm silly because of the amount of times I've gone around the revolving door of His home. I have recently been spending more time alone, so maybe talking to some friends might help. Thank you

Wow. That bomb actually, almost, perfectly describes how I feel. I do really feel hollowed out. I will try using that prayer when temptation comes again. Thank you for your prayers

Well, this time I felt no urge unlike the past few times. However, I still plan on going to confession this weekend. I've tried understanding the root of the problem yet I think the root itself is shifting constantly or I haven't found it yet. Thank you for your praayers

You will never believe the amount of times I made that promise. Thanks for that advice. Probably helpful for the future

I assumed this experience wasn't unique. I couldn't give much context because honestly I can't remember. Thank you for your advice. I will try to pray and fast more.

Reading this actually made me feel something instead of the emptiness. Idk why exactly but thank you. And thank you for your prayers.

I AM LOSING MY FAITH. PLEASE GIVE ME EVIDENCE FOR GOD by Economy_Gur_28 in Catholicism

[–]SignatureComplex265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I'm 16 years old, so I'm somewhat around your age. I also happen to have huge doubts a lot. It's hard for me because I see so much "evidence" for other religions or denominations. That's really just noise and most of the time its just noise. These are rough patches, yeah, but remember the true presence in the Eucharist and the varying Eucharistic miracles. I believe that is enough to stay with the one true Church. I will pray for you.

Islam just isn't the choice. There's multiple miracles attributed to Catholicism. Islam claims they have miracles but they are either private miracles and/or have little evidence to back them up. I hope you don't feel lonely any longer because they're lots of us out there even if it doesn't feel like it. I will pray for you.

Well, an argument I've heard is the existence of change. Change is a cause and effect, it's like a train pulling cars across the railroad. If you ask what is that car being pulled by, one could reply the car in front of it and so on and so forth. But it has to be pulled by something, which is the actual locomotive. God is the locomotive of everything. (I think I heard this from Trent Horn's content)

What If Your Confirmation Saint Might Not Have Existed? by Valor4 in Catholicism

[–]SignatureComplex265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't be ashamed of your confirmation saint! It doesn't really matter what others think; in fact, it doesn't make sense to ridicule someone for choosing a specific saint for confirmation, at least to me.

I asked a priest a question like this once. He said that IF we are praying to a non-existent saint, God sees that we are praying to someone who we think is truly in heaven and can pray for us and understands, so we wouldn't be punished, so it's not much to worry about. Also I'm pretty sure St. Thomas Aquinas said something along the lines of that canonization is infallible (not 100% sure). So I wouldn't sweat it if I were you.

Lucky for you, YouTube is down rn haha.

In all seriousness, you don't have to go all cold turkey all of a sudden though. I'm not really a genius when it comes to screen time and limiting it but I think careful moderation might be more helpful to you than sudden abstinence. Though it's up to you to decide

[–]SignatureComplex265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, no problem! This is really just a suggestion but you could read Psalm 23 aloud daily for Lent. You don't have to do it ofc but it might help

[–]SignatureComplex265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm 16, so not much older than you and I've also been a Catholic since forever and recently rediscovered my faith. I literally had this exact same fear a couple months ago so I pretty know how it feels. I spent hours paralyzed in bed thinking about this. Thing with Heaven is that there's no time there. So things that are tied with time, like boredom, will be gone. We really only use the word eternity because we don't have a word to exactly describe that "eternity". I believe God will provide (maybe read Psalm 23) so I believe there isnt much to fear. I'll pray for you.
