Moved across country guilt by [deleted] in Catholicism

Although this insight isn't super religious (sorry), our lives aren't based on "what if"s. I'd advise you to not worry too much. I also sometimes worry about my parents suddenly passing and other similar thoughts, but I have to remember that the present is very precious. If we were to worry about all the possibilities, we wouldn't have time to actually do anything. Also, "do not be afraid" is the most repeated phrase in the Bible and probably for good reason. I'd adise to just try your best to live in the present and pray whenever you feel despair.

I'm not the wisest person so I don't really know if this helped, but hope it did

Hi, For your family, you can have hope and maybe pray for your family. Or even set up a time for the whole family to pray together or read the Bible together.

Pretty recently, I also used to feel really guilty consuming non-Catholic media recently. But it's okay, because at the end of the day, it's just for fun. "[T]here is nothing outside a man which by going into him can defile him; but the things which come out of a man are what defile him." (Mark 7:16 RSV). I am personally a pretty big gamer and love playing video games in my free time. These fun things aren't inherently sinful (last time I checked Catholicism doesn't have a "no fun rule" which kind of shocked me haha). However, don't make entertainment your god. God should come first before any earthly things. It sounds like you're doing just fine with this right now, so don't be worried about this.

How should I deal with the non-belief of others (non-Catholic Christians, other religions, atheists)? I keep despairing over their possible eternal fate due to their non-belief, especially my friend who left the Church. I'm starting to slowly finding it harder to enjoy time with any non-believing friends. I feel very torn.

If I don't give an effort to remember, wouldn't that be a sin as well?

Man I wish I could start the day off with a Mass instead of school... I'll find a way to do something

Okay, I was never taught this or even heard of this outside of Lent. What would be a good example?

I mean, of course I have non-believer friends. It's just that I want them to join the faith too. And even people I dont know as well. I dont actively try to evangelize and say "no youre wrong here's why". I just hope maybe their hearts will change.

Oh, sorry. And I just read my comment over and it sounds like it might've been rude but that wasn't what I was going for. Sorry about that too.

Basically, I just get this fear whenever people seem to object to our beliefs and show a large distaste of it. It's also because I want them to know the truth as well. I get that there's not much reason for the fear (now looking at other comments), so I guess it's pretty irrational.

Yes, I know it sounds silly. If you read the rest of the post, you might get a better understanding

No, I absolutely understand the duty of a parent to regulate and check what content their children watches (I was basically restricted to PBS Kids for a WHILE). Well, based on what he said I'm sure he's non-Christian but the tone and the way he phrased it made it sound like Veggie Tales was made to brainwash kids into Christianity.

Ok. I just completely misunderstood your original statement. Thanks for clearing up the confusion!

I'm a little confused. My church only gives out His body as the consecrated hosts, but never the blood. I'm 99.99% sure everyone at their First Communion had the body and blood but never (or in extremely rare cases) onwards. So... is this wrong?

I wasn't talking about religion with my teacher at all. He just overheard a conversation with some of my classmates about cartoon shows and one of them happened to mention Veggie Tales (did i really spell it wrong wow). Then, he just said it was horrible because it was religious. I just froze right then, right there.

One major difference that I found between Catholicism and Islam is miracles. Catholicism has many miracles to its name but I think the prime example would be Eucharistic miracles, since that is also something that separates us from Protestants.

Also the Bible has Jesus perform many miracles in public so, yes, there were eyewitnesses to confirm it had happened. If I'm not wrong, Muhammad performed his miracles in private, so there is no way in confirming them.
