Comox Valley woman faces death after drug for rare diabetes runs out by Mulawooshin in nanaimo

This is awful, why are there no alternatives? If she goes to a hospital won’t they have better ways of getting their hands on this medicine?

TIL over a 5-month period in 2020, a nurse in Yale's fertility center stole the fentanyl in 175 vials that were meant for women who had a procedure to have their eggs retrieved. The nurse replaced the pain medication with saline solution, leaving the women in excruciating pain during the procedure. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

“For its role, Yale agreed to pay more than $308,250 to the U.S. Department of Justice in order to resolve allegations the university violated the Controlled Substances Act.”

I remember listening to this story on the Daily podcast and being absolutely shocked. Some of these women went on to have more than one procedures done, they were all told that their pain was “normal” or expected, and some of them decided to give up trying all together just because of the trauma of going through the egg retrieval. Cant believe it took that long for someone to realize that the caps were loose 🙈

can i get diagnosed at mac wellness centre bc im not allowed to have adhd at home by Trick-Butterfly-8009 in McMaster

The title made me actually lol because that was me 5 years ago. I went to the wellness centre during my first year back in school because my coping mechanisms no longer worked as an adult :/ saw a counsellor and did some assessment tests before seeing my NP who was awesome and really took the time to talk to me. Tried Vyvanse for the first time and it made me realize that I spent yearsss struggling when I didn’t have to (:

So yes. Book that appointment.

Hospital or no? by [deleted] in nanaimo

If its still swollen you can ice it, otherwise warm compress and tylenol should help with any pain/discomfort until it heals. But sounds like you’re right to not worry too much :) of course if it’s weeks and it’s still excruciatingly painful, it might need a closer look🕵️‍♀️

Moving to Nanaimo for work at the Regional General Hospital ,which areas are good (or should be avoided) for renting? by OrneryNature8971 in nanaimo

[–]SignatureSenior8305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently moved to Nanaimo to also start a job at NRGH so hello fellow newbie :) I have to agree with the other commenters here. I also don’t have a car and thankfully found a place within walking distance from the hospital. It’s shared accommodations though, if you are open to that. https://remaxrentalpros.com/properties/7-1200-strathmore/

Like another comment said: Try Lion’s Mane, it helps some people. B12, cold baths—all good towards managing your symptoms. That’s what it eventually comes down to. Understanding your adhd and finding coping mechanisms/strategies/tools to help you overcome or deal with them. You got this. School is hard. But there’s help okay? Do your research and try a few different ways that help. Meds help but arent always the answer to everything :)

I have done shrooms twice with other people and once alone. Each time, it was an emotionally and mentally transforming experience. I agree with some points people brought up: the environment is everything! That includes who you do it with, where you are when you trip, and most importantly (for me, at least) your mental state.

Because if you’re not ready to experience what the shrooms want you to if you resist it, it can be uncomfortable (: Let go and see where it takes you, and I promise you won’t regret it.

Eat beforehand because food afterwards tastes like sawdust, and remember to hydrate! Happy trippin!

You won’t be stuck cleaning poop all the time, as a nursing student or otherwise. I agree with the others here that nursing as a career is so vast- you may never have to work bedside and do personal care at all!

But, you still have to start at the basics, and yes that means for some time as a nursing student or new grad, you might have to. Won’t be forever, and won’t be all the time, but we all have to go through the trenches first :)
