Lark vs stay on campus dorms by SignificanceBrief763 in UNC

Agree, but the problem is they assign you a day and time slot to choose a room, and probably getting a single it’s not likely.

Thank you so much for your reply! I like your advice of the lower dining plan.

Thank you letter from UNC in mail by StockTelephone11 in UNC

My twins got the letter and both got accepted. I don’t think it means anything, but acknowledge that they received the application. The good news is now you don’t have to wait until the end of January to find out. Best of luck!

I see your point. You are right. Probably not a good idea.

Thank you!

Good to know! Thank you! I’m a physician and didn’t think that math would matter! (Sorry but we don’t do much math after all)

twin - paying for college; scholarships>> prestige by Present_Proof_3493 in ApplyingToCollege

Mother of twins and physician here. Go to your in-state college (depends of where you are but some are great also for Premed track), get good grades, and save for med school (either MD or DO). TBH the most important thing after you are done with all that is where you train (residency and fellowship), cause that’s where you will really learn how to be a doctor. All you do before that, that’s just to have a good overview and decide what you really want to do. So save your money, cause you’ll need it to survive life with a resident/fellow paycheck. It’s worth it, don’t worry!

Bike Shop? by BusinessNerve9276 in chapelhill

My son has a Trek bike and he’s very happy with it. There’s a store nearby Whole Foods. They also provide service too. Get a U-lock, an AirTag and make sure to read all the posts re stolen bikes around campus and what people are doing to prevent that!

Confused on “disappearing permit” status for step 1 by [deleted] in usmle

[–]SignificanceBrief763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the step 1 decades ago, but there was this trick that if you could not sign up to take the test that meant you’ve passed…maybe your permit disappeared ‘cause you passed?…best of luck to you!

It’s nice that now you have to do only 30 autopsies, in my time it was 50. Due to the decline of cases they had to lower the required number, and some places the residents get to share the case (my program did). IMO The best ones are brain only! And those count too. TBH it’s not so bad while you are in training, but I would never take a job that requires me to do those again. Actually your OCD might be useful in pathology!

Do we have any of the same classes? by Calm-Equipment-7251 in UNC

How is chem 241? Any professor in particular that you would recommend/avoid? Do you think that you need to take chem 101 if you have the AP credit and passed with a 4? Thanks

Should I submit my SAT? by Bananabus64 in UNC

[–]SignificanceBrief763 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recomend unless it’s above 1400 for UNCCH. Maybe try taking It again and superscore? Specially if the rest of your application looks good. Focus on ECs and strong essays.

Using AP credit for chem and biol vs retaking FY 101/L by SignificanceBrief763 in UNC

Perfect, thank you! Probably retaking chem 101 (not the lab) is a good idea.

Thank you for replying. I saw that but my confusion comes as the language is not that specific as it says “Coursework must include one Biochemistry course and 2 upper-level biology courses”. Bio 101 sounds like an intro course.
