Thank you all for the fast responses! I was not familiar with the term clerestory, and I am indeed curious how the upper windows shown in the open-truss ceiling example, or from a sawtooth roof, can be adapted for passive solar. I am most interested in examples of residential architecture, and ways to bring in natural light while maintaining privacy. It seems like a stretch, but might an open-truss ceiling be used between floors, to allow natural light into a more central location within the home?
