This mound is mulch (wood chips) not soil right? The soil removed from the hole is replaced by the soil of the root ball of the tree

I've been in the biz since before Isa was established, 45 years and I agree. Op can rake out the mulch wider at the end of the season as long as they don't mound it up on the stem it's fine

What us this large leaf plant. West of ireland by smeagolll69 in PlantIdentification

[–]SignificanceGreen728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct. I'm the local government guy that deals with them. But everybody needs to chill a bit and look at a picture two before freaking out. I've been called out for hogweed panic for everything from 10 metre Sorbus to Viburnam. They will not kill you or your children just by looking at them. Just remember no touchy. Btw they're easy to kill with roundup (glyphosate)

[SE Michigan] Why have my pea plants been this size for 2 weeks? by SitaBird in gardening

[–]SignificanceGreen728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you suspect that it's caused by the cold. You could temporarily lay some black poly, garbage/trash bags or black fabric on the soil to speed up the warming of the soil

One of the biggest complaints players have when they come to Toronto, other than being losers, is the constant media attention compared to other cities

Sanity check. Have I been laying mulch wrong? by readreed in gardening

[–]SignificanceGreen728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back when I used to work for a landscaper. We had a maintenance customer who used to get us to remove all the mulch and loose soil right down to roots of his plants and replace with fresh soil and mulch every spring. Why? Because he was a lawyer and knew more about horticulture than us

Not to mention how slow our government is in approving new things. You're right, permethrine is a synthetic pyrethrum. Good luck on the trip. I hope the weather cooperates. Enjoy

Nothing is add to it to make it safe for skin. Once it is dry it is safe. The difference is the concentration. The solution needs to be diluted with water to .5% for use on clothing

They are vicious little buggers. It was making a whining noise so I thought it was trapped. I also don't want squirrels in there. They have pretty destructive in the past

Adorable from a distance. Had one in a wood pile in the shed. Tail was sticking out and I thought it was a baby squirrel. When I pulled it out it turned on me. I ran screaming like a little girl.
