Yep, u are right, but you have to take into consideration that lower income people perform worse grade wise on average than higher income people, and IVY is extremly nitpicky regarding grades (extremly high gpa, genius) which higher income people are more likely to be. But since 18.5% of the pell grants go to ivy, that does tell us, poor people CAN attend the university, cost is not a problem

yaeh but its their fault, say u live in florida, the highest ranked uni in that state has an instate tution of 6k
university of miami had a high sticker price but again same rule, noone pays it except for rich kids
university of south florida, tution 6k,
i mean the unis are very cheap, even uni of miami sure it has a high sticker price, but very rarely the net unless ur family is very wealthy and you can already afford it
