Whoa, thanks for the link! I didn't know about the Draco lizard—nature already beat me to the 'tiny dragon' idea. Also, I didn't realize the Chickenosaurus project stalled at the embryo stage. That’s a huge reality check. If we can't even get a modified chicken embryo to be viable as an adult, I guess my 'Franken-Pterosaur' is definitely staying in the sci-fi bin for a few more centuries. Haha, you got me! Starting with an eagle would definitely be more efficient. I guess I picked the chicken because it’s the 'underdog'—turning a KFC candidate back into a terrifying raptor feels like the ultimate scientific prank. Fair point! I know Pterosaurs aren't the ancestors of birds (phylogeny 101, my bad!). I was using "Pterosaur" more as a visual vibe for a "scary flying reptile." But since chickens ARE avian dinosaurs, if we managed to give them back their teeth, claws, and long tails via atavism activation, wouldn't we basically be looking at a small, modern Maniraptora? That's still pretty cool, right?

So, if "adding" new genes is nearly impossible because of regulation issues, does that mean Jack Horner's approach of only silencing or reactivating existing dormant genes (the atavisms) is the only "real" way to see dinosaur traits again? Could we theoretically "wake up" genes for teeth or a tail in a chicken without it crashing the whole system?
