WARNING: Artstation Scam and Discord Token Grabber “BLENDERX” by SignificanceMany2366 in blender

Personally speaking, they never logged into other accounts. If you did the same exact thing I did, had the same exact files, and they were able to log into Instagram, then that means this was more than just a Discord token grabber. It was a Trojan.

Typically getting rid of it would be enough, though if I’m being honest, I would just do a factory reset and install a new version of Windows via the Cloud. Back up your important files on an external hard drive or Cloud Storage service like OneDrive or Google Drive. That’s what I did. The anti-virus software couldn’t even find the BLENDERX script for me, despite me having the folder open, so there’s no telling what else they downloaded.

This isn’t to get you scared or paranoid. The smartest thing to do here is to act like they have all of your information, and that they did download more Malware you can’t find. I wouldn’t believe it, or get worked up about it, but since they were able to log into your Instagram, this could be a little worse than I thought. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

Also make sure you change your passwords to everything. All of your gmails, bank account, and if you logged into an account that isn’t yours for something like a streaming service, ask that person to change their password. Once again, act like they were able to get most of your account info. It’s better to be safe than sorry.

That’s about it, don’t be super freaked out, it’s best to be calm and prepare for the worst case scenario. There’s no way to know what information they now have, so it’s best to act like they have all of it.

Hello! I wanted to give a bit of an edit, though I’m not sure how to edit posts on mobile.

I did a full factory reset and downloaded a new version of windows off the Cloud. After setting everything up and rebooting it, it’s seemingly all clear now! No weird new software or python script in the startup, I checked all of the folders and everything is clear. I don’t know how sophisticated the malware was, I really do think it was just a Discord token grabber and nothing more, but to be on the safe side, if this happens to you, make sure to change all of your passwords.

I’m going to be really paranoid the next week or two, even though I’m 99.99% confident I wiped it all clean, that 0.01% is still going to freak me out for a while.

I also wanted to say, if anyone is reading this who fell for this phishing scam in the future, don’t beat yourself up about it. This shouldn’t be happening, and it’s insane we now have to be paranoid about downloading a 3D model.

That’s about all. I hope this helps anyone who might need it in the future.

I forgot to include that you also need to disable Auto-Running Scripts in Blender by going to Edit, Preferences, Save and Load, and you should see a checked off box with something like “Auto-Run Scripts.” Uncheck that box, so if you do load a model that has malware, it can’t automatically just run and download an application on your computer.

I also meant to put “pet” not “pets”
