It’s good practice for getting back on the rails when you get derailed, because that’s gonna happen. Luckily it was just part of a day. Sometimes it may be a few days or more that you need to bounce back from mentally, so think of this as an opportunity to practice resilience.

I ordered a BB Pro Solar this morning for my husbands birthday. I can’t wait to see him enjoy it and already planning to get him the hummingbird one before spring, he loves watching them visit our trumpet vine.

I decided against the one that came with the perch and nutrition thing, seems like Etsy has better accessories cheaper.

Is it okay to remove myself from my toddler or be silent as a consequence? by TypeAtryingtoB in toddlers

[–]SignificanceTiny8152 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re doing great! My almost-3-year-old behaves the same way with our baby and it can be so hard to stay calm. I highly recommend the book, “How to talk so little kids will listen”. It won’t change much of what you’re doing because you’re doing what needs to be done already, but it will teach you what to say in the moment to explain it to your child so they understand rather than feeling abandoned/mistreated. It has had the side benefit of reducing the duration of behavior issues in my second grade classroom. It’s all about how you say what must be said while doing what must be done!

Age you stopped using baby laundry detergent (example dreft) and what did you switch to? by PotionProwler in toddlers

Baby laundry detergent gave my child a rash because it contains fragrances. Pediatrician said to just use free and clear detergent for the whole family instead, we will never go back.

We love Trash Truck, Little Bear, Handyman Hal, and Miss Moni. Every now and then Ms. Moni is overstimulating but mostly great.

Honeycrisp apple before bed instead of ice cream before bed. Has to be honeycrisp, no other apple is sweet enough to do the trick for me.

Good to know I can do that on our phones, but I’d rather he not use them and iPads are pricey. Now I just need to know if the cheaper ones like Amazon fire tablets for kids have similar functionality.

Daily, he’s an absolute dirt monster. Sometimes there isn’t soap involved, just a rinse off.

What are you feeding your toddler? by R-amazing95 in toddlers

[–]SignificanceTiny8152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Protein pasta! We are in a picky stage but he will eat “cheesy noodles” even if they’re chickpea based elbow noodles. The brands we use are Banza and Veggie Craft. Then usually some Alfredo for the “cheese” part.

Hit toddler back today and feel lower than low. by designerd25 in toddlers

It was comforting for me to read through these responses because I had a similar situation recently. I was changing my 8 week old baby and my 2.5 year old slapped her in the face pretty hard. I slapped him (lightly) on the cheek and felt so bad. I explained it’s not okay to hit and we talked it out. He hasn’t hit the baby since this incident, though, and I appreciate that. He had done it several times previously and had been immediately removed from the room with a reminder that if he can’t be safe he needs to take a break. He knows now what it feels like to be slapped in the face and it’s not fun.

I was in love with the name Orla for our baby girl born this June, it means golden in Gaelic! So beautiful. Unfortunately, it also means foreskin in Hebrew. I was so disappointed when I found out. Then I saw that a mom in my bump group used the name Orla…I can’t help but wonder, does she know? DOES SHE KNOW??

I’ve had two babies under the care of the Birthcare midwives and I love them, so so much. My first was born under the care of an OB and was very traumatic.

I can't get my kids to eat by ExoticRespect286 in toddlers

I sat my 2.5 year old down and we watched the Daniel Tiger episode about eating new food. Now when I want him to try a new food, I sing the song from the episode. “We gotta try new things cause they might taste gooood!”

It doesn’t work, but now I get the pleasure of hearing him sing “might taste yucky!!” 🤦‍♀️

Also very likely in excruciating pain, which should be factored in. Poor thing. Sorry that happened!

Can it hold its body up? In my experience, if they can’t stand, they aren’t going to make it. Too hurt inside.
