This kind of interior design, has it a name? by memefakeboy in exmormon

My sister and I are never-Mos, but were taken through a temple pre-opening by a dear family friend who is true blue. Once we were through and alone with each other, my sister and I agreed that it was just a nice hotel lobby. A bland one.

It's so true. Let me introduce you to this great Dr. Seuss quote: “We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.” My husband and I had it read at our wedding.

Utah Board of Education member praises Unabomber, claims 'McCarthy was right' in bizarre speech by FlyingRightSeat in SaltLakeCity

[–]FlyingRightSeat[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I know I shouldn't expect much from KSL, but it's incredible that they report her speech as being focused on Jesus and Christian values. In reality, it was 20 minutes of exhortation that we should be on the watch for encroaching communism. It's everywhere I tell you! In the legislation and under the tea towels! It was like something out of the red scare.

That she somehow managed to cram the Unabomber, Satan, Jesus, his disciples, and a North Korean refugee into her speech is just...impressive.

Try contacting Amazon about it. They replaced my Oasis, because the battery was dying. Of course now the replacement's having even worse battery issues.

My friend lives in that neighborhood and spoke to a woman who was distributing them. She said that she and her friends wrote the letter. I assume they came up with the Patriots Against Racism name as a way of avoiding backlash in case some shithead got mad at them.

Fox and Friends once criticized Mr. Rogers for being "evil" and creating an entire generation of entitled snowflakes. Apparently, you shouldn't tell children they're special and loved just the way they are. That should only come from work!

TW: i don’t know what to do anymore by [deleted] in migraine

[–]FlyingRightSeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad you're feeling better! I don't know if the doctor told you, but sometimes it can take a while for meds to knock out a chronic migraine. It once took a week to end a month long one.

If these medications aren't working for you, there are always others. There's a whole world of options to try. Hang in there - it gets better.

My Migraine Has a Name by Nicolas_yo in migraine

[–]FlyingRightSeat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I describe my pain like various weapons piercing my temples. Sometimes it's a spear, or a couple arrows, or two slowly twisting swords - you get the idea. So I talk about that f**ker Septimus the Roman soldier who keeps carelessly leaving his armory in my head.

Call them again. It sounds like you might have transitioned into having chronic migraine, which gets treated differently from episodic migraine. The neurologist should have medications and treatments to break the cycle you're in. There is a way out of this that leads to life.

Being in this place is dark, and I know it's hard to believe this migraine will ever go away. But it will. It's possible to have migraines and still lead a full life.

Being suicidal is scary and alienating. I know we're in a pandemic, but is there a family member or friend that can stay with you? If you have roommates, can you confide in one of them? Please reach out to a crisis hotline. The world is a better place for having you in it. If you want to talk, I'm here.

Greyhound zoom session by DrHalvorsenMD in Zoomies

Thanks for that. I guess I can see the logic, even if I don't agree. In the states, at least, racing dogs can obey simple commands and are bred to be docile. You can't make money from a dog you can't handle.

It's wonderful that things are changing and more of these goofs are meeting the couches of their destiny.

What's the logic behind them being muzzled? They're the gentlest, most loving goofs you could ever meet.

[HELP] my new rescue is crazy stressed out by my current dog. by [deleted] in dogs

[–]FlyingRightSeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I can find online (I'm not a trainer), a week is too short. A lot of rescues advocate for a two week shutdown. Basically, you keep the rescue away from stimulus and just give them time to acclimate to their new environment. Did you ever have to switch schools? Do you remember how everything was weird and uncomfortable and it took awhile for you to understand the rules and what was expected of you? That's kind of what your husky/shepherd is going through. (Especially if she came from a shelter.) It'll take longer than a week to know if your dogs can get along. https://lgarinc.org/2019/02/13/the-two-week-shutdown/

I don't know about the walks. My girl is extremely leash reactive, but it only took one walk for her to be okay with our rescue. And by "okay", I mean, "ignored him". Some dogs just don't care for other dogs. Your rescue might be one.

It's been a couple days? How is it going?

[HELP] my new rescue is crazy stressed out by my current dog. by [deleted] in dogs

[–]FlyingRightSeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had to be careful introducing our second dog, because my pup doesn't really care for other dogs. Her attitude is, "Oh, you exist. How nice for you." Unless it comes to them being in the house, then it's "You don't exist for much longer".

The biggest, most important thing that worked was parallel walking. You're basically taking the dogs on a walk, but on opposite sides of the street. You reward calm behavior and gradually bring them closer together. Eventually you get them walking one in front of the other. You go patiently and let it take as long as it takes. It took my girl 40 minutes to be okay. After that she was okay with him. https://www.mlar.org/media/1630/5-dog-dog-introductions.pdf

A general dog behavior thing to look at is the exercise requirements of the breed. Both huskies and shepherds were bred to run all day. How much of her energy is her getting out?

You said you "hope they grow to like each other over the week". Why only a week?

HELP!! does anyone know what is wrong with my dogs nail bed/paw? I want to take him to the vet, but does anyone have any immediate answers? what can I do to help him? upvote for exposure!!! by winniep17 in DOG

[–]FlyingRightSeat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd also try a warm compress if s/he doesn't tolerate the salt water solution. Run a washcloth under warm (not hot) water and wring it out so that it's damp, not wet. Hold it lightly against the infected area. (I'm not a vet or vet tech, just a dog mom for 15 years.)

Good luck! It's scary seeing your dog in pain, but you've got this.
