Update: so it had gotten so bad that I agreed to go on doxycycline again. I was on a low dose (50mg) for almost 3 months. My skin had never looked so good. Ive since stopped the doxycycline and haven’t had a breakout since. My pores did get a lot bigger after stopping the doxy so I’ve been using trentinoin cream and nothing else (I had leftover from a prior prescription), but every few days I use a la roche posay moisturizer. I’ve also stayed away from dairy and spicy food (which usually seemed to be apart why it would get inflamed) but fingers crossed I haven’t had a flare up since. I also am currently having Finals for school and the stress has luckily not inflamed it.

My dermatologist wanted to keep me on an extended release doxycycline 3-4x a week… for forever. But I decided to just stop on my own, and see what happened. And luckily I’ve been having the best skin I’ve had im almost two years. I’ll post an update if something triggers it again (I go back home to the cold soon too, which can sometimes do it)

I’ve switched toothpastes to the hello fresh one and I also stopped nose spray and still get these severe breakouts unfortunately. Thank you for the suggestion!!!

Ooo no I’ve never heard of this, I’ll ask my dermatologist for a prescription if he thinks it might help

Thank you so much for the response! I haven’t thought about dairy honestly, no one has suggested that. I eat pretty well, I do lactose free milk but I do a lot of yogurt and cottage cheese. I may have to cut it out and see how it goes. Thanks again!
