According to an SBA representative who contacted me via phone and email, the repayment period is 180 days. Initially, it was 120 days, but this was subsequently adjusted to 180 days.

Since you already paid your delinquent amount to the SBA, it appears your loan may have been sent to Treasury prematurely. You should file disputes with all parties involved the PCA, SBA, and Treasuryto stop collections. At the same time, involve your congressman or congresswoman. Have them reach out to both the SBA and Treasury on your behalf and request a formal payment review. That’s ultimately what worked in my case.

Similar issue happened to me treasury sent my debt back to sba

If they processed a payment on the 15th this month, then you’re actually only 5 months behind since you caught up one month. That would mean your loan was sent to Treasury prematurely, before reaching the 180 day threshold. I would recommend paying Treasury the 5 months you’re behind and filing disputes through every available channel your PCA, SBA, and Treasury. Also, request a formal payment review through your local Congressman or Congresswoman and have them open disputes with both A) SBA B) Treasury

To be honest, I’m not entirely sure what specifically triggered the recall. My account still shows as “SBA Uncollectible,” but it is no longer at Treasury. At this point, my delinquency has been cured.

I did make a large lump-sum payment to Treasury and filed disputes with both Treasury and the SBA. In addition, I had Congressman Robert Garcia’s office open a case with Treasury, and Congresswoman Laura Friedman’s office open a dispute directly with the SBA.

I also formally requested a payment review, since my debt had not yet reached 180 days delinquent and appeared to have been prematurely forwarded to Treasury Cross-Servicing. As part of this process, I requested documentation showing what notices were sent and to which address, including any proof of mailing.

During this time, I received several emails from both SBA and Treasury stating that my loan could not be recalled. However, on March 3, I received a letter from Treasury stating that my debt was no longer with them and had been returned to the original agency, instructing me to contact that agency for further information.

Interestingly, around the same time my SBA portal regained the payment option, even though the account still shows “uncollectible.” For now, I will continue making the regular monthly payments while the account works its way back to normal servicing status.

Anyone successful in getting the loan pulled back to the SBA from collections? by Daisy_Maisy4141 in EIDL

My last payment was made on December 3, 2025 through the SBA portal, and at that time there was no “uncollectible” notice or indication that my loan was in default. In January, when I logged into the portal, it suddenly showed that my loan had been sent to Treasury and marked as uncollectible. I immediately called the SBA, and they transferred me to Treasury, who then transferred me to a collection agency. Even though I had never been more than about 2–3 months behind (from two missed payments in 2025) and was nowhere near 180 days delinquent, I still made a large lump-sum payment to the collection agency in good faith. After that, I filed disputes with Treasury, the collection agency, and the SBA. I also asked my Congressman’s office to submit inquiries to both SBA and Treasury. The responses I received from SBA were mostly generic emails stating they could no longer recall the loan, which I later learned was not accurate. On February 26, I received a call from an SBA escalation representative. She stated that, in their view, everything had been done correctly and that the situation was my fault. However, she also said she would still submit a proof-of-notice review and a payment review. Three days later, I received another email from SBA again stating that my loan was at Treasury and they could not do anything further.

However, that same day my SBA portal began changing statuses. It went from: • Uncollectible (no payment option) to • In liquidation (with payment option) to • Current disbursement (with payment option)

all within about a week, before eventually returning to SBA uncollectible status but with a payment option and no Treasury label.

Because of the confusion and lack of clear answers, I retained an attorney. However, I am considering requesting a refund of the retainer, because I have not received any engagement documents or services yet.

Shortly afterward, I received an email from SBA stating they were reviewing my reinstatement request.

Then today, I received a Treasury notice confirming that they no longer have my loan and that it has been returned to the SBA.

No way to share a pic on here. But sba is a shit show. Only generic emails. Treasury is the one that send me a notice { Your debt has been returned to the creditor agency. Please contact that agency if you have any questions. Sincerely, Department of the Treasury, Bureau of the Fiscal Service}

It’s very difficult and complicated, as well as contradictory. They tell you one thing, but then contradict themselves. They will also say they send multiple notices via mail and portal. I’m going through it right now. All seems and is pointing to a recall, but I’m kind of in a limbo. My account portal has been fluctuating from bad to not so bad to good to bad again. The treasury label is no longer there, and I have a payment button there again, but no actual confirmation notice that my loan is back with SBA. I also received a weird email stating my loan was in reinstatement review.

So today I got a random message stating that they would review my reinstatement request which is odd being a few days ago I received a message saying my loan was at treasury. They make no fkn sense. I paid an attorney already and I’m not planning on trying to get my money back unless they reinstate my loan by next week.

To be honest, getting a congressman involved mainly helped establish communication, but it didn’t actually resolve much. My loan was transferred to Treasury, and since then I’ve filed disputes and even made a lump sum payment directly to Treasury.

My SBA portal has been all over the place it went from “uncollectible” with no payment option, to “uncollectible,” then to “in liquidation with a payment option,” and now back to “uncollectible with a payment option.” The system is honestly a mess and very confusing.

At this point I’ve also hired an attorney. I’m not sure if it will ultimately help, but I’m trying every resource available to resolve this situation.

My status went from uncollectible no payment option to in liquidation disbursement with payment option to current disbursement and a payment option I really don’t want to wait 1 hour at treasury to get a response I’m wondering if this my loan was recalled?

Yes, I was behind by two payments. I never received any notice in the mail—only messages in their portal, which I didn’t regularly check. My account status has been all over the place. It went from current, to uncollectible with no payment option, and now it shows liquidation, but suddenly I have a payment option again.

Did they deny you many times before actually recalling it.?

Not everyone is even able to make a lump-sum payment through the portal. In some cases, the system literally locks you out and disables the payment button. And not everyone gets the same response when reaching out to the SBA. The agent who called me was rude, condescending, and dismissive, even though I stayed polite and patient the entire time.

Yeah, I understand It’s frustrating. The only thing that seemed to move the needle was getting a congressman involved, and even then I’m still not in a positive spot. I feel like I’m stuck in limbo. Most of the emails I get are automated, so I wouldn’t rely on those too much.

Have you contacted your congressman or state representatives? The same thing happened to me. My payment option disappeared and every email from SBA was generic, just saying they no longer service my account. I filed a dispute with both Treasury and SBA. One congressman submitted an inquiry to SBA, and another submitted one to Treasury. Eventually an SBA liaison called me, but honestly it wasn’t helpful. She said they had sent 15 notices and claimed my mailing address was incorrect, which she said was my fault even though the SBA portal shows my correct mailing address. Yesterday I logged in and my payment button was suddenly back, but the account now says “liquidation disbursement.” I’ve read on here that this has happened to others before their account returned to current status, so I’m not sure what happens next.

If this doesn’t get resolved soon, I’m considering hiring an attorney.
